Hi All,
I'm mainly a lurker only posting the odd time or two but I need some good advice.
Please bare in mind this is not my horse either.
I looked after my yard managers horses while she was away over the weekend so was in charge of feeding etc (they live out so very easy to manage)
Anyway she has a teenager who shares one of them (lovely gentle horse who wouldn't hurt a fly)
I messaged said sharer on Friday so see when she wanted to ride over the weekend so I could make sure I didn't feed before she was going to ride.
Heard nothing from her so was giving her till 6pm before I left the yard to either turn up or not. She turned up around 5.30pm and brought him in, I was still pottering around doing chores so was keeping half an eye on what was going on.
She had a total face on her for some reason didn't even speak to me and was very rough with the horse as she was handling him (telling him off for moving a foot) anyway all of a sudden there's a massive noise when she flings the girth over him and it hits the stable and he spooks and slips.
I go over to check him as he's abit what we call gimpy with his feet and has had abscesses and other leg/foot problems in the past. When I check him over he's holding a back leg off the ground so I immediately give him a good check over and as I'm doing this she's still tacking him up.
I get her to walk him out and he is lame not hopping but still lame and he has heat in his hock. So I hose him down and as I'm doing this she's still asking if she can ride, so as he's in my care and not my horse I say no.
She strops off without tending to him and then messages me later saying she will ride Saturday morning, I asked her to let me take a look at him before she does as I don't want him going out if he's lame.
Luckily enough I get a message from another livery Saturday morning saying she's turned up there.
So drag myself in my pjs up the yard to which I get told by the sharer 'well he's fine as he walked form the field fine' I look he's still lame.
Progress to Saturday night I get a message from his owner that I have to let the sharer ride on Sunday but as she hasn't had the full story off of the sharer as to why I've said no, so explain to the owner and she's fuming to say the least.
Jump to Sunday and he's still lame so I message the sharer that he is still lame and she asks to still ride.
Anyway I blew my top slightly and said would you want to run with a twisted ankle?
So this sharer has caused this injury because of the way she treated him on Friday as she was in a bad mood an took it out on him and he was reacting to her (he's a very safe and sane boy who I have never seen act like that in all the years I've known him)
She's very much the type who just want's to ride and that's it she has been offered free lessons from the owner which she doesn't bother with, she says she's going to ride and then doesn't turn up which lets the owner down and when she was offered the share she was asked for a £10 a week contribution for shoe's which she hasn't paid since January and damaged a £900 custom made saddle.
If this was me I'd have got rid of her ages ago.
Coffee and cake for anyone that got through all that.
