hi all!!!we lost our hay this yr due to a crap farmer so we are looking to get 2nd cut and have it bailed as haylage, but this time although there is plenty of grass on the field there is a very thick base of clover will this matter???as ive read its not good in haylage (its never really made a difference when field was cut for hay in the past)i would appreciate your comments!!:)

Hi, really sorry you lost your first cut!

I've made haylage with clover in. Never did my yard any harm. In fact, the horses loved it.

I suppose it depends on how much clover. I seem to remember there was a good ground covering of it in the haylage I made that I'm referring to. I then sprayed the field the following autumn for ragwort and it killed the clover off. But I do remember my horses loved the clover rich haylage I made!

Hope this helps.
