man vs horse Wales

yes I'm doing it, did it 20yrs ago and decided to have another challenge this year!
there are 60 horses entered with 8 on a waiting list and approx 300 runners should be fun only 2 1/2 weeks to go!

Yes have done it too ... a few years ago ... I had a mare who was a consistant winner of another MvHvB in the midlands
It is great fun but if your horse is not super fit take your time and have fun x

What kind of horse do you have? Do you do endurance type training?
Im intrigued i want to do it next year but not sure my boy is suitable!

She looked anglo arab but was of unknown breeding ...I was given her as she was going to be put down aged 3 due to kick on leg .. she was sound all her life ...competed in 8 man v horse v bike .. She once completed a 10 mile mvhvb in 20 mins !!

I dont do it anymore .. mainly because all my horses are really dressage divas ..
Happy to advise but in a nutshell it takes a good year of steady work ..I used to do miles of trot work on local farmers land and she used to swim 3 times a week

I used to compete on an arab but this time I am doing it on my daughters mare an irish x TB type, it doesn't matter what breed as long as it is fit as there are many steep hills and a vet gate halfway, my mare has been doing a combination of distance rides, now working on interval training up hills to final tweak her training,

thanks guys. thats good to know my boy is an ex racer so maybe not best type he is a dressage diva in making- i have a friend with enduranc horses to so maybe could borrow one next year!!

This looks amazing. If it wasn't 22 miles I'd be getting myself down to run it! Might be interesting to look at a Man v Horse v Bike though...

Love these kind of things

I think we are going to head down and spectate- although not sure how easy that will be.
Yes my OH was put off by 22miles of running. If can find a man v horse v bike i think next year i could ride, OH bike and his brother run!

Thank you! I recommend it, it is awesome but super, super hard (running or riding) so do take it seriously!
Cheer me on if you're spectating dizzy! I'm no. 119 at the start.

This looks fab- want to do it on horse and on foot!

Told the people at my new yard that I want to hack out to a certain pub. They think I'm mad and that it's miles away. Poor horse has had the misfortune to be bought by a dabbler in ultra marathons, got a 44 miler coming up in June. My idea of "far" doesn't match most people's! :p
