Managed to chain harrow and roll

After 2 full days of windy dry weather we have managed to get onto the winter field and harrow and roll most of it just a small section where the steam runs that we didn't risk going onto.
Made a huge difference and the field looks really tidy.
Let's hope we get another dry spell so we can do the rest.
The grass is definitely growing and it looks quite green.

My top paddocks could have got harrowed today but no way of levitating tractor etc there as other paddocks far too wet - am leaving furrows from plodding through with a barrow!

We are lucky the field are really free draining and the wind really helped.
We are harrowing and rolling behind a really big Honda 4 wheel drive quad and the tyres hardly mark the ground.
Great vehicle to get on the land early.

Lucky you! My gateway is still almost ankle deep in mud ! Heavy rain coming tomorrow and Thursday too so growing flippers seems more likely than harrowing at the moment !

Wow! Still like a swamp here. I'd like to harrow the summer paddock but I'm increasingly worried it won't get done, and I'll have to move them in there while it's still wet.

Omg I'm very jealous! We had an oldie out on one of our fields and moved him recently. Currently resting so we can harrow soon.. may not be anytime soon though

But we do live in West Wales so had our fair share of wind and rain!
Fortunately we are quite high up and very free draining soil strong winds always dry our fields out.

Having spent the weekend in West Wales, I'm amazed you manage to do that unless you're right on the coast with sandy soil? The field outside my parents' holiday chalet in Aberporth is under about 3" of water. I took the dog out for a wee at 6 am and nearly lost a slipper we sank so far!

We managed to harrow yesterday!

I'm glad we did as today is pouring again.

We only have a quad and small harrow so not as heavy as a tractor on the field but still it got done!

We are high up ln the Preseli hills ( not far from the highest licensed pub in Pembrokeshire) and yes we are on free draining sandy soil.
We tend to catch the wind across the land and that always dries us out fairly quickly.
