My mares mane has decided to lay on left side is there anyway to make it lay on right or is it only a fashion doesn't bother me but some one will say meant to lay other way.
Try plaiting it over the right side (don't roll up plaits) for a couple of days. Keep brushing it over and damp it after and always pull it on the right. You could use a hood/neck cover making sure that the mane is on the right side underneath!
Ditto to the above, my boys mane does this, i am not bothered at the mo as he is out of work, but come spring it will be plaited and left for a few days, that usually does the trick.

Now that is spooky, because I was going to post about this this morning
and I was going to ask a similar question, obviously in the 'showing world' the mane should lay on the offside, but for jumping/dressage I personally don't give a monkey's the which way the mane lays because normally its plaited (well for dressage) and yes I would then plait it to the offside, so how can the mane suddenly change sides?...and lay perfectly nice like is grown that way all its life?, that's what I can't understand. Py's has swopped sides and it looks better now than it ever did and that was before his neck rug was on (so I know it has nothing to do with that)....total mystery.
Do people plait up on the left if the mane lays to the left?, do people really notice?, can't say I have ever too any notice to be honest at competitions.
I don't worry as I am not interested in showing. I don't think it matters which side it is plaited on for things like dressage. I think you would only need to do something about it if you are intending to show.
well i have been trying to get my mares mane to grow on the near side and after plaiting hooding you name it it still insists on growing on the off side. So i have given up and we are all happy!!
thanks think leave as is till spring then pull plait and hope if not she will still be loved even if she is a lefty after all i am left handed so at least we are a matching pair.
