MY mare is coming home in a couple of weeks and I'm feeling anxious already!! shes been away from Rio since April and I am in a real quandrie about how to reintroduce them back together its my place so only got Mum,Rio and pony..so how do I get them all out together...just put them all out together?? stable them all overnight so they can view each other but no contact till the morning...gah I'm struggling guys HELP :o

Or do I bring the horse that mum has been sharing with over summer for a week or so so I can seperate fields but will be in view of rio and pony!!!

Ahhh see I'm in overdrive with ideas and images of what might/could happen:(

Usually horses do not seriously kick their friends, and the foal will, at this stage, be a tiny blip somewhere in the pelvis. By the time the foal is bigger, the two mares should have sorted out any issues - if they are not able to do this that would be the time to take action, in my book.

Eh ^
Hi Well i found that my babies were fine when i introduced mums back, they did try their luck with a sneaky suckle but were soon put in their place mums just walked away with a nasty look. You could try seperating but if it is electric would Rio not try to go through in his excitement? If it's post n rail try and see how they are over the fence. I know some mums love their babies so much they will allow them to drink even after a long break but mine were onlly apart for about 3 months and it was fine.
