My mare seems to have been in season constantly for the past few weeks and really excessively so compared to normal. For example, she did a wee on the concrete on Saturday and then had a wee when I was riding her on Sunday (both of these things previously unheard of). She is also winking alot and feels quite resistant to the leg and is kicking out a lot and bucking which is not normal. I have looked at her on the lunge and she looks absolutely sound and I had a lesson on Friday and my instructor said she looked really loose over her back. I was just wondering if the last season of the year can be worse than others? Is there anything else that can make them act like this i.e. infection?
The only other thing that is worth mentioning was that on Saturday morning her right hind was filled (around cannon bone area) but again when I looked at her, she appeared sound and the swelling came down with exercise and when she was out in the field, therefore I am assuming that she just knocked herself in the stable and it filled up with her being stood.
All thoughts very welcome!
