Matchy matchy ? Im not sure I get it ?

I do matchy because my horse looks fab-u-lous. Although I agree with a comment further up, with a grey at this time of year it can be hard to even be cleany cleany :D
I'd never look down on someone for not being matchy, life's too short and I'm too busy making sure I'm not riding like a melt!!

As for matching horseboxes... I wish...

I haven't ever really 'got' matchy matchy because my horse doesn't wear bandages or an ear thing? I am tempted to get green everything for the yard mind you..... I had to buy a green Ifor Williams to match my green Land Rover Discovery, so that seems a natural progression? ;)

Have a look at Premier Eq - they do sheepskin half lined pads in all sorts of funky colours. Despite that I bought a white one!!

Mines the same and needs sheepskin. I just bought the royal blue! Not had chance to use it yet. Love the peacock/teal colour but not keen on the citrus fleece and they don't do it in gp size. But they do the peacock half pad with grey fleece 🤔

I know a family where mum, daughter and horse all wear pink, all the time - even a pink stock for dressage. Horsebox is also pink, horse isn't.

They obviously need to replace current horse with a strawberry roan.

Damn it, why did you have to tell me??? (Actually, looking at them, it looks like the GP numnah has visible sheepskin, and I like it neatly tucked away. Phew, I'm safe!)

I have the sheepskin pad and shockproof pad with sheepskin but both in white - I love the peacock/petrol blue and the navy/red.

I'd love to go matchy but horse demands half-lined numnahs and they MUST be sheepskin, not fleece, which means a) they're blooming expensive, and b) they don't come in fun colours. So he only has one numnah, which was originally white (only chosen because the white ones were half-price) but now... isn't.

Eskadron do a sheepskin underlay that goes under any saddlecloth :p. Get one of them and you can have all the pretty coloured ones you want ;).

Oh no OP, this thread seems to have descended into matchies anonymous/a support group for those with greys

I had matchy fail tonight. Horse doesn't need boots, bandages or fly veil and is only allowed (saddler instruction) lightweight sheepskin. To date I've only found black, brown or white. So I've (not yet sold) my lovely coloured pads and disengaged. Until I discovered that you can special order the nuumed lightweight sheepskin in other colours! Ace. I can join in. Very happy to receive two new pads today. A Burgundy one and a purple one. Lovely. Fit horse beautifully.
My epic fail? Burgundy does not go with the rust red breeches I was wearing...
really suited my wee skewbald though.

We are very sophisticated. Most of my riding tops are black (don't show the sweat), as are Micropony's boots. And a couple of his saddlecloths. Except for the white ones. Can't be bothered with ears. He has some lovely coloured LM saddlecloths but has decided he doesn't like them (secondhand burgundy, bottle green, dark brown tweed or benetton blue anyone?), but I was certainly never organised enough to wear matching gear, except possibly occasionally by accident.

I have never heard anyone sneering about someone else either being matchy or non-matchy. The horse world being what it is there is often lots of sneering about lots of things (because all of us are always right about everything all the time, right?), but not that. Or maybe people take one look at us and figure I wouldn't really get it!

Ha, I now realise that I nearly have a matchy matchy set after all, despite being an old f@rt in denial!

My IDx mare T is bay, and my 4x4 is metallic brown, so maybe all that's needed is a sprinkling of glitter on T and we're good to go!

Oh my goodness, you are a matchy! Bet you're secretly googling 'brown glitter for horses' right at this minute...

I admire it but for my current situation with horses I'm lucky if I can get him cleany cleany.

*snorts*

Same (mostly...though I do have a navy Le Miuex fly veil and Mesh Air saddle pad, but they haven't been on him at the same time yet). I have a grey, so cleany-cleany only really happens for outings/competitions.

Is it matchy-matchy if his fly veil matches his grass stains?

I am a confirmed matchy addict, but I do it because I enjoy it, and certainly don't sneer at anyone for not doing the same - actually I think the matchy addicts get more grief! ;) My horses' care certainly doesn't fall short just because I choose to spend money on matching kit. My stuff is all kept at home so it doesn't really take me any longer to grab a coordinated set of stuff than an uncoordinated set. :)

I'd like to try matchy matchy but I think I fail! Also, I'm another with a grey who's more like a bay at the moment :(

I have never bought a 'set' but i think J looks good in navy or some shade of blue so most of his stuff is in that colour... or black. He has a hi viz pair of ears for hacking and a navy set for summer when it's windy or lots of flies! He doesn't wear boots or bandages so can't match there..... hmmm..... I have just bought a noble outfitters top that's navy so I could match with that! (not intentional it was £13 in the sale).

I bought some brown jod boots even though I own black chaps because they had no black ones and the brown were sooo comfy....

I definitely don't look down on people who do or don't match their gear! So long as the horse is cared for people can match or not match all they want :)

This.

I think it's looks smart and wish I could be more bothered! I mostly buy things that 'go' anyway and wouldn't choose something if it didn't look ok with what I already have.

Unfortunately I have a cob with full feather and a long mane so couldn't even join in with the full matchy anyway, but he does have a super bling browband even though you can't see it.

Have to admit it is beyond me. My kids will do the matchy thingy for cross country, and I get that but it has never occurred to me to put on a matching stuff for schooling, and I would never have thought to wear something myself to coordinate with the horse. Way too much planning required! When I had my own horse I think all my saddlecloths were brown or black.
