Evie is 4.5 months old and 25 inches tall. She thinks she is at least 18 hands high and bullies her poor mother and the other two little ponies in her paddock. I have no doubt she would have a go at the bigger ones if she could get through the fence!
She has recently decided that it is fun to follow me around the field and try to bite me at every opportunity. If she gets fed up with biting she isn't adverse to turning her bum on me and backing up...... although what damage she thinks she is going to do with those tiny hooves I don't know!
I have been telling her 'no' firmly when she bites, and making her back away from me.
This morning she took me by surprise when I was fussing one of the others and really got a good mouthful of my leg and bit hard. I yelled. Loudly. Very loudly. And swore. I turned round and Evie was galloping accross the field as fast her very little legs could carry her
She did come back after a few minutes of me calling her, but very slowly!
I have been back up this afternoon and she is still treating me with utmost respect and keeping a nice distance between us. She did pull one of her 'look at me, I'm a fierce and scary ginger ninja' faces for a fraction of a second, then decided against it
I am under no illusions. I know I have won todays battle, and will ultimately win the war, but I am sure there are going to be many more battles fought long and hard along the way. This little pony makes me laugh every day, she is so confident and moody and full of character. I love the little ginger madam to bits!
Here's the ginger one not happy with having to behave!
