Will get better piccies after she has settled!!

She loves Kia!!! He has had to chase her away a few times lol!!

Ok bt of Info then!!

She is 12 yrs old, WBxTB , gorgeous paces and a good jump as well. Has been very well schooled at somepoint in her life and is very polite.

She will be my new play pony as you know I like to do a bit of everything but I think she will be primarily for DR but may have a bash at WH or JX with her and see how we get on.

Is totally in love with Kia!! He couldnt even get a roll she was standing over the top of him!!!

Her name is pronounced ee-o-win and I think her showname will be The Shieldmaiden as that character was the princess or shieldmaiden of Rohan.

Her feet are due done and will be looked at by my farrier when i can get him down to do her hopefully next week.

Enjoy!!!

Nikki xxxx ;D

Erm......I'd say tethered on scrubland or left in fields with no company or shelter etc were more 'depressing' than her stables.

I dread to think what you might have to say about the cow-shed that monty is currently in!! As long as they have shelter, clean bedding and food and water....who cares?!

She looks lovely OP. I look forward to hearing how you get on with her

She looks a sweet sort

How come she is dripping wet
confused.gif
?
Was that from her being travelled, or has she been belting round the field?

Note of caution .... that lick hanging from the window .... assuming the window is glass, you might want to move it. My friends horse managed to smash a window with one of those and it wasn't as close as that one
shocked.gif
. He was lucky, he didn't do himself any harm.

Hmmm.....after my instant ranting (feeling pretty low today so a bit snappy) I paid more attention to the photo and agree with the others.

Monty used to have a window in his stable and OH welded a serious grill on the inside.

Well I don't agree, fresh air is what horses are about, I don't see company in the stables either.

Are you really saying you would be happy to put your own horse in a place like that, it looks like a dirty cave, full of cobwebs, mank old breeze blocks, filthy, glass windows ?????? Is that not dangerous.

If you would be happy to stable your horse like that so be it but I certainly wouldn't.

A lick of paint and a sweeping brush doesn't cost anything.

And yes to the OP her horse looks a poppet and I hope they have a lot of fun together.

She looks a nice sort

IMHO your stables look fine, not every horse can live in a stable yard like the ones in films, I know mine don't! There are a lot worse things for a horse to suffer.

Horses don't find interiors 'depressing' either, I think that they would rather have other horses, grass and turnout than a swanky stable and none of the others. Great if you have both, no worries if you don't imho. A horse is either an accident prone type or not, some horses will damage themselves on solid post and rail fencing, other will live with scratty barbed wire and never gets so much as a scratch

The second two photos have another horse in them! My horses live out 24/7 since that's what suits them but it doesn't suit every horse and you have no way of knowing what the ventilation is like in OP's stable.

I agree about the glass but everything else......meh!

Oh yes sorry, its so dark I couldn't see it originally.

I didn't mean this to be horrible to OP but I was so shocked,
IME no-one where I am would put their horses in there but we're not ' farmer' sorts so maybe just different standards. All the liveries I have come across are very fussy about horse accomodation.

Doesn't have to be flash but does have to be clean, hazard free and a nice environment ie fresh air, clean, well maintained and company, especially for horses that are stabled.

I'm gonna leave it at that.

OP- your new horse looks lovely, hope you enjoy her!

to all the rude people on this post, could you not have held your tongue just once and let this person enjoy the feeling of having a new horse to play with?

agreed! ^^^

I think the horse looks a really nice sort OP
smile.gif
hope you have lots of fun with her.....

and there was I thinking how nice it was to see the horses together in the stables and that they had a nice big window to look out of...
crazy.gif
though I would look at grilling it off.... I think we had lots of that at an old RS.

HOW RUDE

Your new horse looks very happy :-) Lucky you for having a new horse and a fab hubby ! X Bet you can't wait to get doing stuff I'm sure. It's always great when they just settle in like they have always been there - what a princess ! Did you have no idea she was coming ? There is NO WAY I would trust my OH horsey shopping - he comes back from the shops with the wrong type of loo roll never mind a geegee!

PS (LHS) I'd hate for you to see my house if thats how you judge equine living accomadation gosh! but then I guess you stable your horse on 50 quid notes -like the horse even cares as long as it's got a haynet! ... at least I hope not or my neddy who is currently living in a breezeblock box with a corrigated roof or out 24/7 is going to be gutted, someone quick call the RSPCA for me!

I had to LOL at the idea that the horse would some how be 'happier' if the stables were painted. She looks lovely, OP- enjoy her
smile.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought that too, also that the horse would have a problem with the cobwebs!

Grill the window and voila - LHS for goodness sake mun, talk about tact and timing (you have none here by the way) a kind PM would have done wonders here without spoiling the OP's post!

Lovely horse btw! Have fun x

jesus christ LHS!
The window may even be plastic, if not im sure OP is sensible enough to grill it.
Cobwebs are actually a good thing to have in stable IMO - fly traps!
There IS another horse next to new pony - but why cant a horse be in a stable by itself fgs?
jealous by any chance?!
lovely new pony OP x

LOL

Horses are colour blind right? Therefore why would the horse care whether it's stable is brown, grey, white or even a horrific shade of puce!

Actually, I think the stables look brilliant, and I'd definately move there - solid thick walls to keep them warm in winter, and cool in summer.

She's a lovely sort, definately my type, I hope you have fun
smile.gif

She looks like she'll be a heartbreaker, especially when she has muscled up a bit. You are a very lucky girl!
grin.gif

Your stables look fine - although like the others have said, if that is a glass window, I would personally either replace with plastic or put a grill over it - but, if your photo's are anything like mine, they always come out making everything look much darker than it really is! I love the idea that horses can socialise in their stables - except my horse, who is the grumpy, anti social sort!

Most importantly - enjoy your new girl & have lots of fun with her!!
grin.gif

QR - OP good luck with your new horsey, she looks like a sweet thing and I really hope you have a ball with her!
LHS- WTF?!
shocked.gif
frown.gif
mad.gif
How rude & unkind?! I really think as others have said you could have held your tongue on this one, talk about p1$$ing on someones bonfire!
I agree that a grill is necessary but that's easily sorted.

'Farmer sorts'...just keep digging LHS.
