Wow! Eowyn is gorgeous Nikki.

LHS... ???

Tell you what, if you think those stables are bad then by george, you should see ours... a barn made out of metal tin! then theres thin ply wood type of thing separating the stables, the roof leaks, the walls havent been painted since forever, no windows, unless you count the holes in the roof as skylights, and oh, our horses live in over night! Cruelty to horses or what!

But, you know what, my horses have *never* been happier and from what ive personally witnessed, horses dont care whether theyre in top class accommodation, or in stables which ok, arent overly well made but they do the trick. Why the bother about some algae and a couple of cobwebs? My gelding has a tree growing in the corner of his!!!

It doesnt affect the safety of my horses in one bit, theyve lived there for nearly 4yrs now and the most problems weve had have been from the fields so imo, run down stables arent the be all and end all. Such a shame some people cant see that.

Actually Bailey adds his own special touches - he loves to poop down the wall & rub it in, he's so artistic - he'd be evicted, no doubt, for ruining the aesthetics if he was on LHS's yard!!!!!!

I am very glad for your horses sake you have things in hand, cos yes its a DUMP and in the current state a dangerous one.

As I said before ' different standards'.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes...we all have different standards...many of us choose a higher standard of manners and decorum than yours....

She looks a lovely sort and I hope you have a lot of fun together - as well as being suitably grateful to your OH for being such a star!
grin.gif

Have lots of fun together and keep posting the pic's!

As to LHS, I've rarely met someone more spiteful in my long life, they certainly haven't been brought up with any manners that's for sure; she wouldn't like my yard that's for sure and I wouldn't like her on it either; I don't do grouches trying to rain on someone's happy post, that's just cheap and very nasty.

very well said!!

Nikki your new horse looks lovely, lucky you to have a OH like that!

Your yard looks a bit like some yards I've been on one even stored caravans! What is more important is your horse will be well loved and cared for so you don't need to justify yourself to anyone, if the decor is not to their taste then tough.

I dont post very often but,
LHS does your mouth always get put into gear before your brain.??
You probably dont even own a horse other than in your dreams....my (perfectly kept) little pony is it..probably still in its box in case it gets dirty.

Eowyn looks lovely and may you have many yrs of fun together, im sure she dont mind the cobwebs...well fed spiders in the summer.

Oh the shame! And, now don't tell the authorities on me will you, some times there will be a spiders web on his window (which, FYI, is behind a grill) and I don't remove it straight away!

As a regular visitor to Niks yard, I can quite safely say that her horse is very well cared for, wants for nothing and is happy as a pig in [****] living on more grass than he can probably eat. This horse will be afforded the same love and attention as her current boy receives.

Although I doubt the snooty individual above would approve of pigs in [****] either seeing as its rather a "farmer type" thing - and clearly farmer types are rather low on the social ladder these days.

The words "clueless" and "moron" come to mind. Oh and "jealous" just popped into my head too

Every yard and horse owner has different standards, there are some lovely competition yards about with no expense spared when it comes to the stables/fencing & turnout/facilities they offer etc but some of those yards hold many dark secrets and many are full of miserable horses, mentally tortured and treated like machines.

But it would be wrong of me to think that all the ‘nice’ yards are like that, because of course there not so just because somewhere appears to have lower standards than others or be a dump as you put it, doest mean to say their horse will suffer because of it and is not receiving the right care, kindness and attention they deserve.

You made some good safety points there yes (although perhaps jumped the gun a bit) but then the owner has explained a few things and yet you are still rude.
frown.gif

Horses are animals at the end of the day, they all sh*t down stable walls, chew on stable doors and trash there rugs etc …not matter where their kept.

Our livery yard has a couple of caravans that are kept there for storage, does that make our livery yard a caravan park?

Farmers are having to look for other ways of income these days because times are hard, be it turning some of their yards into small friendly livery yards or offering caravan storage, just because there not purpose built livery yards doesn’t mean that the horses on them are any worse off.

Gosh cannot believe the reaction to the stable!
the stable i have Vinnie in is nothing posh its BREEZE BLOCKS!! whats wrong with a breeze block stable??! it has sh1t stains all over the walls wich are painted white every year. it has a plastic window that is covered in algae, there is walls between each horse god forbid. However it is also massive with a huge straw bed and hay bar. Vinnie seems happy.
OP best of luck with the new horse. x

I recently moved my horse into the newly build stable at my yard. They are 14X15, outdoor stables looking onto the fields, have special roofs that keep them warm in the winter and cool in the summer, rubber matting covering the floors and halfway up the walls, everything was very fresh and clean, automatic water feeders etc etc. He hated it..
He is now back in a 12 x 13 breeze block stable with sh*t stains up the walls and he loves it. Never been happier!

Your new geegee looks lovely! Great time for a new ned coming into the spring and summer, good luck and have lots of fun xx

She looks lovely, and don't take any notice of the people making VERY rude comments about the stable - just jealous and small minded

Exactly!
Like I said earlier in post KK it's not what was said rather how is was said - a little tact would have been nice!
What I found shocking was that in LHS's original reply she didn't have 1 nice thing to say about the lovely mare just 'are you going to tidy your stables up as they're depressing', totally uncalled for and also as I have previoulsy said LHS can dress it up any way she likes but she was out of order.
As you have quite rightly pointed out even after OP defended herself (very ably I might add!) LHS was still rude!
I'm shocked to be honest that someone can be so hostile over, well, nothing really!
confused.gif

Also I have noticed that LHS has actually made her own post asking for some advice - let's hope people are a bit more helpful/polite to her than she has been to OP on this occasion.

Oh gosh your pony has a breeze block stable?
shocked.gif

Shocking! Better not mention that mine does too and *shock horror* I live above it
blush.gif

Even worse than that, I am soon moving and the pony will be moved to stables in..... a cow shed
ooo.gif
Completely cruel, as I now know!

Seriously though, LHS, are you really that unconnected to horses, that you think they care if they live in a freshly painted , perfectly presented stable, than an old stable with a few cobwebs
confused.gif
I haven't laughed so much at someone's ignorance and stupidity in a while, so thanks for the entertainment at least
wink.gif

P.S. Nik she is very pretty, I hope you enjoy your time together!
cool.gif

xx

OMG! Have just got wind of LHS comments from a different forum - what a nasty cow! Most 'farmer sorts' actually own their own land so not really as far down the chain as you are trying to suggest.

NiknKia - she's gorgeous by the way! And Fab and Miro slum it in breeze block stables too and so far they haven't objected!

words fail me yet again on here
frown.gif

as i said over there, shes a sweetie, im sure Kia will love having her around
smile.gif

GOD LHS will you look at yourself.

Your just proving how much of a sad and lonely moron you actually are!!!

Do your horses crap gold??? If not then a wee bit of muck is accepted.

As for farmer types well I have to say if I have gras and perfectly acceptable turnout and shelter for my horses then I will take Farmer type over anything theses days.

Good luck to you in your endevours as anyone who wants to livery with you had better watch out, Or maybe its the other way around as if you had spoken to anyone the way you posted at me you might find that gob filled with a fist.

Thanks again everyone people can be sooo rude and nasty and its nice to see that people wish me well with her She is a sweetie!!

Nikki xxxx

She is a cute little thing and what a wonderful OH you have giving you such a special surprise. I hope you have many lovely years of fun with her.

As to LHSes comments. She did have a point about some of the questions she raised although her manner in putting across those points might not have been written as tactfully as they could have been. But then maybe I shouldnot talk as LHS picked me up on what she perceived to be a tactless comment I made some time ago. Nik has now explained and hopefully alleviated any concerns raised. Let her enjoy her special day
smile.gif
.

she looks lovely, even though she is wet from the rain. she will be really nice once shes put some muscle on.
glad to hear her feet are on the agenda and the few safety issues on yard are being sorted. look forward to seeing more pics!

LHS- sounds like the only dirty thing on your yard is your mouth. no-one in their right minds would move to your place even if it was paved in gold, because YOU are there. never mind tact, how about some plain old manners?

Oh meant to add as well my stables are breeze block they ar actually smoothed, treat concret and are smooth to the touch and rounded on top so as to PREVENT injury.

Just had a call from OH who has decided that Eowyn is now not mines after all but his and no-one gets to do anything with her as she was licking and sucking on his jacket for her dinner
grin.gif

She'll be a daddies girl lol!!!

Nikki xxxx

Eowyn is lush =]

LHS: Come visit our yard! Our gelding LOVES cleaning his box - he often pees in a particular spot on his bedding, and then flicking the sopping wet shavings all over the place! But by far his favourite trick is pooing in his water buckets! Today, he successfully pooed in both water buckets!!!!

And don't get me started on my mare - after 6 months of various medical treatments, her walls are beautifully decorated! Bit of blood there, bit of medicine she's spat out there... Its beautiful, LLB would be so proud!

Get a life love, she just wanted to be excited about her new horse.

LHS - I am Nikki's RI and I cant believe your comments on this post. Nikki is excited about getting the horse, which myself and her OH had surprised her with, hence why everything was not 'perfect' for the horse coming. But why should we have to explain to you about the horses accomodation, if you are so perfect why dont you post some pics of the yard you are at, presuming you have a horse that is!!!

As others have said it doesnt matter what the place looks like it is how well cared for that should count, you have really agrevated me by your comments as you dont know anything about this person, horse, yard etc etc.

I can assure you if you were on my yard you wouldnt last a minute !!!!!!!!

She looks gorgeous! I hope you enjoy her loads!

Sounds like she'll be spoilt rotten by your OH!
tongue.gif
I'm sure she'll love it at your yard, 24/7 turnout, lots of food and attention is a 5 star hotel for horses! I know mine love it
smile.gif

Thanks guys!!!

I do feel as though my happiness has been tainted a bit, but at the end of the day I have a gorgeous new girlie to play with courtesy of the lovely situpstraight and my OH (hes bankrolling lol) and bitterness shows in many ways.

Lovely ponio, what an amazing prezzie. Is she for Valentines day. Beats a bunch of flowers anyway
laugh.gif

What size is she? Is your OH incredibly tall?
laugh.gif

What a nasty, vindictive, bad mannered little person LHS is. Nikki, you don't need to justify your stables to her. Some people just hate to see others happy, you know the type. It usually is because their life is so miserable, so they try to make others unhappy too. So really, we should be feeling a bit sorry for LHS.....yeah right
laugh.gif
