Meet Taylah

I bought barely 15.1 three yo he was the first horse I bought with my own money .
He topped out at 17.1 .
He came off the carriers lorry and started growing and did stop for two years.

It's elbow to ergot then reverse it so ergot end goes up pass the wither and that's the approximate adult height, or you can do elbow to ergot double it and add in ergot to ground and then measure it. :)

Thanks. I will try it tomorrow. It should be much calmer weather then!

Glad she arrived safely. She looks very nice.

Our family ID was 15hh in the autumn we got him at two from a field on the moors, he has matured to 17hh. Just extra high quality forage and some feed.

Thanks. That is encouraging. She doesn't seem to know how to eat her hard feed.

Wagtail i love her. she as lot of growing and filling out yet. Dont be tempted to push through feed. just good forage and healthy diet. but i see a rose soon to blossom in her and given all you have been through i hope you enjoy every single moment hun. you deserve it x

Well mine was 15 hands at three thought he would make 15.2/3 hes now 16.2 im way other horsed being a cob as well and me then weighing 7 half stone

Aw thank you.

Congrats wagtail I'm so pleased 4u and hoping u have many yrs of happiness with ur beautiful girly she looks like a sweetie. She doesn't know how lucky she is with her new mummy

I'm sure she'll make the height. My 2 yr old is expected to make 16hh and she was 14.2hh in October, not measured her since as she is now bum-high. I'd be very careful feeding hard feed, they can outgrow their tendons and that causes dreadful problems. it's best to stick to high fibre feeds and good quality forage.

I'm so pleased that you got her safely to your yard and she's settled well.

Thank you. I am determined to learn from my mistakes with Penny. I hope I get it right with Taylah.

Were you looking for something Swift ?!

She looks and sounds gorgeous. Fascinating times ahead; I'm looking forward to regular updates!

Lol, you think she is fast? I was going to go for a cob this time but my heart has always loved the 'hotter' breeds.

And may i say(no demand) we want(no need) lots of piccies in future. no excuses we just want piccies hun ;)x

Ha! You will be sick of the sight of her. I intend to post regular updates.

Thank you. Encouraging about the height. I will be careful with her food.

I was playing about with names (Taylor Swift - a slim, leggy, pretty singer - I have teenage children).

I DO like the sound of her breeding. I'm a little addicted to Tbs tho prefer the quieter ones these days.
May I request a video too; I would love to see her move. I'm sure you are not all that busy ATM !!

lovely :)

im sure mine was around 13.2 a year ago (now 14.1ish)... i did get laughed at when i got her as i claimed she would make 15.1hh....her arse is now 15hh....so yeah im pretty much bob on!
will try the string test!

dont give up hope! :D the grow....and i swear by stud mix :)

She is very pretty and looks like a nice girl Wagtail. Don't worry about the height, she'll make over your lowest height, I'm totally confident of that. Certain lines of WBs and TBs take longer than others to get to their full height. Don't pump her full of feed though, even if it has no detrimental effects on her, if nothing else it tends to be a waste of money with the thinking that more feed = taller horse, it doesn't. Although I feed my youngsters a balancer, it's not the end of the world if breeders don't, so long as the youngsters have had adlib quality hay, good grazing and minerals. That's far better than feeding excesses of hard feed. Looking forward to seeing her without the rug on. Oh and congratulations!

She's lovely. Such a pretty colour ans a nice headcollar too ;). But I thought she was a welsh D fot some reason?

Honestly, don't worry about the height if 15.2 is what you need.

Roo is an IDxTB and was measured at not quite 15.2hh at 22 months old. He is now 3.5yrs and recently measured at a smidge over 16.2hh. He's sadly going to be 17hh minimum  And that's with minimal feeding to keep his growth slow and steady.

Please please please don't stuff her full of food. She's still young enough to have dangerously fast growth spurts. I'd be amazed if she's not 15hh by spring time.

She looks lovely, Wagtail. : )

At 2 and a bit she still has a lot of growing to do as well you know and a bit of good feeding never goes amiss. :D

Yes, will get some more pics today.

May Epona look over you and your journey together .

Thank you :)

I WAS going to get a Welsh D but then I saw her...

She seems to have a good head on her though. Hopefully she will stay that way.

She is a beaut! I've always been very drawn to WB X TB's, they make super riding horses. I think she's going to be a little star.

Wish you all the best with her. You really do deserve it.

Well she's out in the field with the boys. They are being so nice to her and letting her share their piles of hay. I think just to be safe I will bring her in for tonight and the after that leave her out 24/7, and just bring her in for a feed and groom in the day time.

Mine was 14.2 at just 5 and somehow is now 15.1. She may well grow a good deal as she's very young.

I hope so. Is yours the cob in your sig? They do tend to mature late. I measured the cob when he arrived at my yard as a five year old seven years ago. He was 14hh. Measured him a couple of days ago, now aged 11 and he's 14.2hh. I hadn't noticed he'd grown, but I guess it was so slowly.

Thank you. It is so nerve racking after what I've been through. She was galloping around in the mud at the top of the field and I was so worried she's injure herself.
