I think most of the AAD regulars will have twigged that we said goodbye to both of the big wolefs last year - in fact it’s a year to the day since we lost R. I don’t need to tell you what a sad and hard 12 months it’s been, except perhaps to say that puppy research and planning is the weirdest sort of emotional rollercoaster in those circumstances. It’s been… yeah. Thanks to those who have held my hand through the process, or who at least didn’t tell me no when they had the chance to. 😉

The consequence of wanting another potential large ABC agility dog is that there is now a creature of teeth and ears thundering around my kitchen. Please meet hopefully-moderately-sized gobshite, known as Vega to her friends.

Despite the bonus white bits she is a GSD - anybody asking if I’m sure she’s not a malinois will be directed to put £1 in the next charity pot they see. 😏 I suspect there is at least one more person on here who will know by the sock exactly where she’s come from, LOL.

OMG she is absolutely beautiful. I am so jealous. We got Sasha when she was 10 months old, so missed out on the really cute puppy stage.

That sock! Looks like she trod in a pool of tippex.
I’m sorry about your big dogs, I think I missed you’d lost both.

Thank you. We had one last summer with D and lost her in October (liver cancer). They were both 13 and neither was unexpected but it was still so tough.

I saw the sock on day one and spent the next six weeks hoping fervently she'd turn out to be the right match for us. I know it’s a bit mad (rest of the litter and breeding completely standard colours) but I think it’s magic.

She is gorgeous! How old is she?

She’s 8 weeks 🙂

She is perfect, teeth and all! You will be able to find her amongst a crowd of GSDs!
It’s s hard to get over the loss of long standing companions but puppies always do their best to cheer you up. OMG, the ears! I have just watched another of the breed gradually gain control of their ears, it takes a while.
Best wishes for a lot of fun and good competition in the future.

I know! I know! I’m so happy I’ll get to follow her progress 😍. My plan is that my next GSD (hopefully a long time in the future!) will come from the same breeder 😍
Vega is beautiful 😍
Edited to add that I’m so sorry about the loss of your other dogs 😢

What does Baby Shark think?

He is thrilled. I won't lie, I was worried as he's a spoilt little turd and not at all social but they have been playing non stop since she arrived.

I've been waiting for this post, I can't wait to see her competing ! Just remember I wanted moderately sized too . Its lovely watching little and large playing bitey face, though Ziggy has now decided that he will only play when he is on the sofa so he has at least a little more height - there is over 20 kg between him and Zenya now so can't really blame him.

Weighed her yesterday and did a projected growth chart, I am choosing to ignore the result 😳😳😳

Teeth, what teeth? I can't see any. She's beautiful!

Believe me when I say that they have been applied to every surface in the house - she is putting my last baby shark to shame. I am carrying toys in my pocket to constantly plug the gob 😂

In that case, good luck!
I haven't had a puppy since an oops litter when I was about 10, so both looking forward to and dreading getting one one day. Perhaps I should invest in some chain mail first?

Because the sock intrigues me, is that a fault, if you were showing?

I will defer to MM on matters of showing GSDs specifically but from my experience showing other breeds, there's not technically such a thing as a disqualifying fault under UK KC rules. It would however be a waste of time and money to enter as judges can withhold due to lack of merit and I assume it would be considered highly undesirable (along with the other three white feet, white tail tip and the biiiig chest spot!)

Besides which, even if I'd picked her lovely dark sable sister these guys would stick out like a sore thumb in a show ring. Good job I have a pain in the arse of a show dog already. 😜 There's also no guarantees that any of the white will stay, or at least not to the extent it is now. I would be sad to see it all go but she is going to change colour a lot over the coming months. I was intrigued enough to want to find out!
