MEN AND THERE LACK OF HORSE KNOWLEDGE LMAO

My old cob was an angel - I remember my ex husband offering to fetch him in from the field whilst I sorted out the stable. Horse walks in looking confused with lead rope clipped on top of nose, straps over his eyes - head collar totally upside down! how he thought that it looked right I will never know!

And you divorced him for that?????? haha harsh!

Loving these! :)

Whilst showing a video of me riding my mare and discussing the way she was going much better in her new bridle my OH's only 'constructive' comment....

"Blimey, her tail is very long".

Bless him, he doesn't do horses and I did have him pinned in the corner of the kitchen forcing him to watch the video :)

My OH has started to show a real interest in horses recently (since I've had my mare). And to be fair to him, makes an effort to come to the yard and 'try' to learn! I thought he was doing really well - got him grooming her,....he even caught her in the field single handedly!

...but then I was brought back to the real world of realising he knew nothing when we were out shopping and I said 'look out for reduced stuff like carrots and apples for the horses!' He said fine and saw this as a challenge,....we met up a bit later in the store,....him very proud of himself with a reduced sausage....'Ok,.....whats that for hun?' .... OH 'Well,....the horse....' ooooooooh dear!!! He honestly did not realise horses are strictly veggies!! He thought as I give her cod liver,....that meant she ate fish and thefore meat!

At least he is trying!!!

My dear hubby(very horsey btw)for some reason ended up feeding our lot one day and mixing more speedy beet for next day. Coming home from the yard and telling me what boys ok,etc etc,he fed them, etc etc, mixed new bucked of speedy beet, put four scoups in the bucket. Here I ask again how much?He said four.Big ones I ask?Yes,our normal ones he said..And add some water.I said we better go to the yard and rescue beet. It was all around the bucket and half way up the floor:) We ended up with one massive flexi tub(biggest they do) full of beet and two normal water buckets:) All horses at the yard were happy to have some.

my son, then 14 came to the yard with me and I was talking to YO about 1 of her stallions and she was saying that the potential mare owner that had been to view him had said she was looking for something with a bit more width of bone.
As soon as we were in the car I noticed a disgusted look on my sons face and asked him what was wrong? "I can't believe they measure they're willy's he said"
Well I couldn't drive for laughing.

These are brilliant! The only time my fella showed an interest in helping out was when he saw my friends boyfriend had learnt to tie up a haynet. He got all competitive! 2yrs on and its still the only thing he can do though!

My fella, since being with me can rug groom catch poopicks etc....

Makes me giggles as he is mega soft with her! e.g "awww u cant ride her now. she's tired and gone to sleep" she had dozed off while being groomed. my whole schoolin session had echos of "ur mean" "poor girl. U tired. here have a carrot" lol

A childhood friend once said to me "Are horses sick when they eat grass, like dogs?". I honestly did not know what to say, I just laughed in her face, then when she realised what she said, she started to laugh too, we laughed for about 3 days haha.

My (now ex) boyfriend once said to me, "You have to watch this YouTube video. They've CGI'd a horse dancing. It really looks like it's dancing to the music. It's so funny!"

It was this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKQgTiqhPbw, Blu Hors Matinee's Grand Prix freestyle at the 2006 WEG.

I said, "You moron. It's a real horse, really doing dressage. And a rather excellent Grand Prix test, for that matter."

He answered, "But you do dressage and it doesn't look anything like that."

Ouch.

These are great!
Ive had a few with my oh, l just chuckle to myself then try to explain things fist occasion was when my OH came in from work on a windy day and asked if I had been to the stables, I said yes they are out for the night though. OH reply was "bloody hell your wee horse will blow away". I did try explain that shetlands do not just blow away in the wind even though thy are small, he was really concerned and I could not convice him that pony would not blow away ;)

Maybe one of us guys should start a thread on girls and there lorrys cars and !!!!!!!! um runs and waits for the fallout..
anyway must be off now got horses to do and cars to fix....LOL

Some of these are hilarious ... Have been rolling around laughing and my husband getting defensive saying sometimes you do weird things too.... Like clipping when it's so cold!

My ex was horsey and never again! I like some space, and my rides are where I get them. Although to be fair, I've left them with him while I go travelling

The one time I managed to drag my dad to the yard I gave him a little tour and then left him by my horses stable so he could meet him. I came back a few minutes later with a feed to find my dad giving the horse some biscuits! When I questioned him he said that the horse looked sad because I'd shaved him and needed cheering up! I managed to find some Polos to feed the beast instead but he still things I'm cruel for shaving the horse when it gets cold :)

wish my hubby was horsey. he has sat on our horse once and wont do it again. its hard sometimes as my 3 yr old has always been interested likes to brush them ride and muck stables out. this is great but sometime would be nice to have an extra pair of hands regarding my daughter with having 10month old colt 32 welsh pony and 3 yr old appy and idxtb it sometimes can be a nightmare keeping my daughter out the way. anyway this is the first and last time my husband got on the horse and trust me thats not a smile to say hes enjoying it. his words were: stop her shes making him run off! i wont to get off!
My daughter::: Come on daddy your only walking its easy lol.

What entertaining posts! I have had to register especially to congratulate you all on your experiences and to tell you how much they have cheered me up!

As a newbie, can someone explain what "bump" means? Thanx.

Had a comment last night from oh, was in the school and oh came to get shopping out my car to take back to my house, horse was struggling with canter transitions (first few are always unbalanced and tbh awful) so oh came out with "can't you tell he just doesn't want to do it!" Apparently I am mean to make him work in the cold especially to do things he doesn't want to do!!

hii and welcome.we type bump when we have started a thread and it hasnt been answered. so when you type bump it brings the thread to the top of the page so people see it again

My OH didn't want me to held the colt as he was concerned that he would know he was a real man and then get jelous of him.
When asking him how Frankie would know he is a real man he replied that he once had a wee in the field and caught Frankie looking :o

Hi and welcome!
people generally type "bump" when no one has commented on a thread for a while - it brings their favourite post shamelessly to the front of the very long list of forum threads!! :-)

Hahh haaa! I can imagine Murphy thinking, 'what the??' but just getting on with it anyway!

My boyfriend once proudly told me that he had recorded a treat for me on TV.
"Oh?" I said.
"Yes! I saw it on H&C TV. They're doing that special trotty-ness you like."
"Eh?"
"You know the trottyness!"
He then proceeded to demonstrate his best attempt at a flying change in my living room.

This one is my favourite

I literally just spilled tea all over my desk laughing at this one!! Brilliant!

Let's spin it around - non horsey women.

Me, Farrier apprentice/access course.
Her, what the hells that?
I explain...
Her, why would you want to do that? Why don't you just get a normal job? surley McDonalds would be a quicker way to earn the same money.

Needless to say didn't let that one drop.

Or the whole 'why would you spend that much on a big dog' can't help but laugh...
