How much Micronised linseed would you feed the following -

1. 32 year old Shetland x, approximately 11hh. She has no teeth left so is fed accordingly. The linseed will be fed along side other conditioning feed (not sure what as she's not owned by me). She currently looks pretty good all things considered but her owner wants more weight on her before the weather starts turning again. I suggested linseed to her as have heard lots of good things about it but I need to advise her about quantities.

2. 18 year old TB, 16.2hh. Currently needs feeding to improvement hoof and coat condition but heading into Winter I will be feeding it for weight gain. I have fed it to him before but I don't think I was feeding him enough hence not noticing a difference.

3. 6 year old ISH, 17hh. Very good doer so definitely doesn't need it for weight gain. She has just had her shoes taken off so would like to feed it to her to improve hoof (and coat) condition.

Thanks in advance :)

I feed my TB 2 cups in winter to maintain condition and at the moment he is on 1/2 a cup just for coat quality (he's a fatty ;) ) don't know if thats any good to you :)

tbh I think you have to play it by results- we feed more to mum's mare in winter as she doesn't do cereals but the same to frank year round. I think we tend to be on approx 100-200 g a day but very ish!

Thanks :) I might suggest she starts the shetland x one a mug a day, possibly increasing it in winter, does that sound about right?
