@southerncomfort your fell sounds so similar to mine I really enjoy your updates gives me lots of ideas.

🙂🙂

If you can get to a TREC clinic I'd highly recommend it. Very good for occupying the Fell pony brain. 😆

I'm going to see if I can recreate some of the obstacles at home, so i can get them out any time he becomes bored and mischievous! I'll let you know how we get on.

Had a fantastic 4 days away at a Sean Colman clinic. One of those where nothing earth-shattering changed for us, but it confirmed that I've built pretty good foundations and come home with many new exercises. Some to improve weak spots and holes in training and others to move us up and give Amber some new challenges to get her back in learning mode. I discovered she's just throwing answers at me, usually the right ones, rather than thinking about what she's being asked to do. I am pleased to have a path to progress on as I felt we were a bit stuck at the level we were at, and this path builds on where we're at rather than scrap it all and start again. Amber seemed to enjoy it and was positively pinging; we did our first few flying changes, no bother. It's the simple changes that need work. :D Sassy Amber did make a few appearances as she was challenged for the first time in ages, but again, I've come home with good working strategies to get her through those moments and keep her mind with me. I had to get my dressage brain back out as we did leg yields, shoulder in / out, travers, renvers and even canter leg yield, which was a new one for me. My main thing is to ask more of her in schooling sessions. I want to go back in the spring.
I also gained a lot from watching the transformation he made with the other horses; there were some real 180% changes made with some of the issues. He can sort anything out from all disciplines, and there was a complete range of horse types on the clinic and everyone was positive and encouraging. My adventurous year has paid off, and we've found a new route forward.

We've been making a few obstacles with tarps, water trays, fake bushes and poles. I need some pool floats and a bridge next.... Might try making a gate to practise
