Mid sept weekend plans :p

Well my quiet weekend turned into a spontaneous trip to a relaxed jump club day with L the Haflinger :)

Her first time out amongst horses, in warm up rings and jumping a whole course and first time jumping oxers too! She was a little superstar, super relaxed wandering around on a loose rein and relished every opportunity to grab a bit of grass amongst the weeds. I think she really enjoyed herself and can certainly jump!

Sounds like some really great weekends had!

We had a dressage competition on Saturday and it was one of those days where things just never came together. It was a new venue for Henry 2 hours from home in a country town where my Grandma lives and so it was the first comp Henry has been to where he stayed away from home the night before. Henry was so relaxed arriving and for our ride when we got there and first thing Saturday morning around the grounds but when I hopped on to warm up for my tests he was very nervous. Not really sure what was upsetting him but we didn't find any relaxation at all and all 3 tests were tense!

It was a big learning and training day for us though as despite him not relaxing he tried his absolute hardest and did everything I asked without exploding. It shows how far we have come as I didn't get nervous and was able to ride him forward and stay with him rather than zoning out myself. Despite his tension we still managed to win one test against other competitors and one by default (because we were the only ones!) and was second in our third test too. I am so, so proud of him and how grown up he was and I am confident that the next competition will be much more relaxed as overall he had a positive experience. It just goes to show how young and green he still is.

Well done everyone who went out! Maybe I will get him another booster, suppose it depends on when I manage to pull my brave pants up and get back out competing. I didn't end up going anywhere this weekend but the weather was nice so did a couple of hacks. My box has it's new tyre on so it's all ready to go, just need to sort myself out!!

Really enjoying reading about everyone's weekend - well done to all those who were competing!

We moved fields on Saturday so I spent literally all day taking down fencing and re-putting it up. They've gone onto some very nice grass (too nice!) so they're very happy and full ponies!

On Sunday I took Sky to Frickley (2) for the Arena Eventing again - with the aim of a double clear (we got one stop and one pole in the July event) and we only went and bloody did it (with 6 time faults)!! Sailed them all and Sky was SO up for it - bit wild in the warm up and he literally lept into the arena when they opened the string for him! It was a great feeling to be sat on something that was really up for the job! We came 10th out of over 45 entrants and I feel on top of the world!

Lovely photos AM !

We had a lovely day in the sun at the local xc course hire. Ground was hard so didn't do much. Was there with a friend who hasn't done much xc and it was a really good confidence giving day for us both. Stayed teeny tiny but F was well up for it. He's great following others but also we did a few where we went off on our own and did a circuit and he was lovely and forward into those too. V pleased as napping on his own has really been the only blip we've needed to work on lately.

Then had a lovely hack in the sun yesterday. Bliss.

Well I did it, ran a half marathon and had two riding lessons this weekend. I spent yesterday on the sofa doing nothing trying to recover my poor legs...No horsey pictures as I was on my own without my chief photographers (mum and sister) but managed to grab a through the ears picture of my horse falling asleep mid-clinic. I think she was as tired as I was.
