Mind your own business

Take a deep breath and keep calm. As you know the french entree forum is usually a very friendly place, much 'softer' than HHO but as with any forum if you post there are thousands of people who will view. All of them have their own weird and wonderful views, some of them more weird and wonderful than others.

Riding through crops is bad form and riding without a hat is considered silly by a lot of people so you did poke the hornet's nest a bit. I think you can do whatever you want on your land and with your head but others will disagree. Not such a big deal :)

Agree with Booboos, and to be fair if you post pictures your inviting people into your business as your showing other people what your up to.

And whose forest were you allowing your horse to trample all over

It's my first encounter with you both and I thought the pictures and video were lovely. I gather you've had issues in the past but they certainly seem to have disappeared now. Will look forward to more :)

As to the riding in your own field - up hers!!

Wow what a stunning animal, owners not bad either:D

Love the pics, shame I have never found this kind of thing going on in our crop fields.

Votre photo et vidéo sont grands, merci pour partager les. Je suis d'accord avec les commentaires précédents - votre tee-shirt bloque une vue fantastique !

Rubbish French, I know :(

Votre terre, votre cheval, votre choix. Plus de photos s'il vous plaît, toujours agréable de voir de bons hommes à la recherche sur les chevaux!;)

OP did you used to be Nubeginningsfrance?

As for the comments on the french forum......sigh.....

Think ex-pats don't always understand the unspoken rules of the new land they're now living in( don't mean to sound patronising), I find the rules far more relaxed where I am( Alsace) I can ride through the vineyards, across people's land, whatever. As long as you leave it as you find it.
Unlike the UK where you have to have permission for everything and are faced with padlocked gates all the time ( sometimes even on the blimming bridleways).
Also, people are always after my horse manure, can't produce enough quick enough for the takers! ( Sorry i digress )

To get back to the original post, bit bl**dy steep to try and forbid you to ride on your own land, not only that, but to do it through a forum! Perhaps they're just really bored??

My daughter does all her fittening work on the tramlines in the corn on our farm, she doesn't if it is wet or when the corn gets too high though. We have no bridleways so it is the only off road we have.

I did used to be NB long story short my acc was closed due to my old user name being my business. So in order for me to be allowed back I am not allowed to make reference to it !
The riding here is fantastic and you can go almost any where you want ;-) I am always riding past local friends houses and stopping of for a catch up and a brew !

What chumps.
Your land, your rules and since you had permission from the farmer to ride there as well...then the problem is none existent!
Beautiful photos! You have the horse I've always dreamed of!

Should I stay out of this field too? We've all got permission to ride through it, so long as we stick to the tracks, which we were. I know it doesn't look it, but trust me :P

I love your picture. That was the kind of shot I was aiming ;-) We are surrounded by fields some mine some not. Most have large tram lines running through them. I have also asked the local farmers if it is ok to ride along the tram lines.
They had no problem with that as long as I am not trampling the crops. What makes me laugh is people asking why did you take the picture in the crops as you can't see the whole of the horse. Duuuu its called being artistic ;-)

Oh right, that clears that one up then!
Riding's fab here too. A lot of variety, lots of woodland, vineyards, and sleepy back lanes. Also a lot of mais fields. I come across lots of wildlife on my hacks, at the beginning my horse used to jump out of his skin when we came across a deer or two, but now he doesn't bat an eyelid, not even when faced with wild boar!!
Unlike his owner, who kaks it as soon as she spots one!

Armas jumps a mile when the deer startles him. Your in a tram line then Tigger the deer pops out and bounces of in to the distance. Its a beautiful sight :)

Thanks :D
There's about 6 fields with permission to ride through where we can either stick to the outside or go through the tram lines.
I saw that comment :P They obviously haven't seen pictures of horses riding through long grass fields or swimming the sea!! Silly people

Tell them to do one! Some people are such numpties! Lovely photos btw, I want a cornfield of my own now to take pretty pictures in :P Do you fancy shipping me and Bella over to France to come do a photoshoot? ;):D:D:D Armas could have an admirer (or two!) for the day :p:D

Lovely horse and scenery, but am most jealous of the blue skies and sun, almost forgotten what that looks like after our 'summer' so far:rolleyes:

In regards to forum issues,your land,your head,your business,simplez:)

So in summary... You ride your own horse... A clean grey horse... On your own land... You trample crops... You feed your horse untrampled crops... You don't wear a helmet... Arm exposure on a sunny day...

Dang... You're doomed ya know... :D

Damnit you beat me to it! Gorgeous horse and gorgeous bloke, Yorkshire is very like France you know ;)

I have just this minute decided to go home to visit my parents in France this Fall after all ;):D

Unfortunately Saumur is nowhere near Cahors (Lot)

I want to ask you kindly to remove the footage of you riding through a corn field. Broadcasting this for all to see does none of us in the horseriding community any favours.
Whether you own the land or not, and whether the person who took the picture is related to the farmer or not, it is totally inexcusable to ride on cropped land.

What is it with people.

Look on the bright side - there's probably a livery yard in the UK that's a much happier place to be these days :D

What a nutter.

I can remember one hack in particular where I on my sensible ID was nannying a friend on her youngster and she had permission to ride in this field with really long grass (up to my mid calf sitting on my 17.1) which was next to her house.

Walking along we I started to see these ripples in the grass and the film Jurassic Park started to spring to mind. Hadn't a clue what was causing it but turned out be a flock of partridges were zigg-zagging in front of us. Thankfully my lad was very good when they flew up under his nose and thankfully not my pal's youngster.

Can be entertaining when pheasants take off at close proximity too!

Gorgeous photos, and what a beautiful horse. I remember reading your first posts about buying Armas and how excited you were. Lovely to see it's all going so well for you both.

BTW you can ride through my crops anytime *raised eyebrows, knowing look*
