Has anyone tried this or similar?
Am thinking about it for myself. Was suggested by my instructor earlier in the year, and again by a friend at the weekend. Have had a complete regression in confidence in the last few weeks, and ended up retiring on course at Bicton after some very questionable riding caused runouts at fences we are more than capable of jumping (and he jumped perfectly when I got my head together and rode properly).
I have some trauma with XC/jumping in general, but have been doing very well, and have been more confident this year than I’ve felt for a long time. And we’ve had results to prove it! But one, unfortunately timed, bad session and all the wheels immediately fell off. It’s improved a little again over the last few weeks, but again, one harder question that worried me and I fell apart. P is so sensitive that he takes everything I do as an aid, and will only do so much hand holding/tolerating of bad riding.
I’m not generally a “nervous” rider. I’ll bomb around all day, get on almost any horse. Spooking/bucking don’t bother me. My big thing is a fear of the horse being hurt, hence the fear with jumping…
Recommendations welcome! I don’t want to spend thousands of pounds, but I’m happy to spend a reasonable amount if it’s going to help! I’m based SW but I’d probably prefer something that can be done remotely because I don’t have masses of spare time available. My instructor is fantastic, and he has helped me improve enormously, but this isn’t his speciality
