i really hope there some good news soon and she pulls through. was sad to read on facebook she had taken a turn for the worse!
I know of two horses in the last fortnight that have been pts through some sort of bacterial infection, one kept going up and down for about 3 weeks and the other was in less than 24 hours. All very strange...
First of all this thread is really touching, thank you so much.
Genie went out for the first time since Friday this evening, simply for half an hour. I noticed she was shaking so brought her in and she was literally shaking all over. Took her temperature and it was over 104 so called the vet. She told me to give her two danilon as we'd just cut the dose back, and then retake her temp an hour later. After an hour her temp was up to 105.5 so vet was called and out she came. She really is a CRACKING vet.
Genie this evening had three more injections, and my vet felt her lymph nodes up her bum. They're normal which is good. She was literally burning to the touch however and shaking like a leaf. Her temperature has come down, hence I am home for an hour or so to eat something before going back up to check on her.
She's responding REALLY well to all drugs given which is a good thing. Just a case of constantly monitoring her. She is allergic to something she has eaten, but we do not know what - vet said it will be something really common (not good!). No turnout for the forseeable future but she can go in the bullpen and must be kept moving to avoid lymphangitis.
Glad to hear that her temp is coming back down. Think you have the same vet as me, trendybraincell said Rebecca, so I'm taking that as Sherman. She was fantastic when my horse has septicemia, she was treated in her own stable. Some vets would have had her into the hospital which would have killed her through stress. I have had her since she qualified, and have total faith in her. She will get Genie right.
Hope she is feeling happier when you go back up.
Really hope she is on the mend now, nothing worse than when you are just sitting and waiting for them to turn the corner. Loads of get well soon vibes and best wishes for you all.
