Hey,
AM competing at 90 at the moment on my youngster and hoping to move up to 100.
Am doing the 100 at Sapey in september as we've schooled around there and are more then comfortable.
What is everyone elses opinions on Monmouth, Pontispool, Weston, Broadway, Kelsall ?
We're pretty good at water, skinnies steps, ditches etc, but I don't want them to be to technical etc i want him to enjoy it so just looking for opinions on complexity and height etc.
Thank you :)

Pontispool is nice. It has 3 waters though, a niceish trakener, although I've not been for a couple of years so might have changed. They'd have a fab all weather for the sj tho.

Echo above re pontispool - generally they only use 2 of the three waters in the spring and autumn, its fairly flat and they do lots of work on the ground XC if necessary. Nicely presented, fair and not too twisty. Dressage is flat with lots of space for warm up. SJ on a big all weather with big warm up also on a surface next door, SJ tends to be up to height and reasonably technical. ll phases fairly close together.

Kelsall's a lovely event and a really nicely built course. Doesn't strike me as too technical but then I don't compete! The only big drop is the ski jump fence and at 100 you'd be jumping off the sides, not the main bit, so it's not too bad at all.

Haven't done Monmouth or Pontispool in years but last time I went they were pretty straightvorward and inviting. Fairly flat, reasonably up to height but nothing technical.

Broadway is nice - pretty hilly and the showjumping caused difficulties last year for no apparent reason - maybe because it was on an area of slight ridge and furrow and riders weren't coping with it.

Weston was fairly up to height last year and reasonably technical - there was an angled pair of pheasant feeders with a ditch in the middle that caught me out! And the waters were straighforward - the first one was hard to get at the first element as you had to go all the way round the pond to get to it, turning away from the lorry park, which caught out a few who thought they were going home.

Kelsall - I've only schooled round, not ridden round, but it seems nice, if a little hilly.

Don't know about the others but I love Kelsall - is a bit hilly up and down, but XC not overly long. XC fences on the bigger end but not massive, fairly straightforward and not technical. Ground normally very good, they're on sandy soil and aerovate if getting too hard.
DR warmup massive though not flat, SJ arena has lots of room but does have tradestands around the outside. SJ built on the small side. Everything's pretty close together, and you can see lots of the XC from the SJ arena :)

I did Monmouth as my first PN many moons ago and have fence judged for the last few years as it's my local BE. I found it fairly bold but inviting. Few skinnies towards the end which catch a few out. IIRC the water is under trees so on a bright day it's a bit of a contrast. SJ is on a slightly undulating arena which was my downfall  forgot to do girth up!
