ah so sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my boy in a freak accident last year and I am still heartbroken - so I know how you feel too. You can pride yourself in the knowledge you gave him the best home possible and made his time here as good as it gets. A very good friend said to me, "don't be sorry it's over, be glad it happened." It made me think of it in a different way and really helped. Hope it can help you in a little way too, Cate xx

I am in tears!!

Its sometimes difficult for non horsey people to understand the bond we have with our horses. Its something only horsey people understand.

I can honestly say that it sounds like you and Monty were the best of friends and you are both so lucky that you were brought together.

I am so sorry to hear your news.

Big hugs to you and Zoom xxxx

And I thought I'd had a [****] day, sadly that puts it into perspective.

I'm so sorry you have lost Monty but he certainly had a fab life with and don't you ever forget that. Remember the good times. Hugs xx

Ros,your kindness to me when I lost my lance, helped me so much. I wish I knew what to say to ease your pain.Hugs to you all ,and remember that you dont need any excuse to phone ,if you need a chat.

You will see him again - but for now, he's waiting at the bridge with so many of our horses and ponies it's going to be a bugger trying to see who is who when we get there.

Tears from me, too. I've loved and lost and been left wondering how I'll get through the days and weeks to come. You do, of course and I hope the huge weight of sadness eases soon.

Lovely, lovely boy, so lucky to have found you. Please accept a massive (hug) from me. The bravery and selflessness of some people on here truly astounds me. I'm proud to be amongst true horse-lovers like you all.

Thank you for sharing the pictures and the wonderful tribute.

Sleep well, Monty x

I'm so sorry to read that, (((hugs))) to you. It sounds like he was one of the lucky ones, to have found a home with you.

A touching post/tribute. RIP Monty x

So sad to hear your news. Take comfort from knowing that you were there for him when he most needed it and you loved him. He has spent his twilight years in comfort and feeling secure. (((((((((Hugs))))))))))xxx

So sorry, big hugs to you, zoom and OH.

Always look back with joy and laughter to get you through the hard times, and feel him near, for he will be forever with you.

Rip Monty, I never met you, but have been with your story for a short while, and know how special you were. Run free at the bridge my friend.

xxxxxx

I don't even know you and i am in tears reading this, how true when some people posted that we all as caring horse owners have to go through this at some point, i remember it all too well when i had my old mare pts in May 08 at the grand old age of 30.

Be rest assured you did the very best thing for him and when the tears fade (and they will) you will look back and remember him with a smile on your face.

But for now give yourself and Zoom a big hug and wish your old man well as he gallops around Rainbow Bridge with all the wonderful horses.

A very good friend gave me this poem when i lost my mare and it helped me so much, i hope it helps you:

Don't cry for the horses that life has set free.
A million white horses, forever to be.
Don't cry for the horses now in God's hands.
As they dance and prance to a heavenly band.

They were ours as a gift, but never to keep
As they close their eyes, forever to sleep.
Their spirits unbound, forever to fly.
A million white horses, against the blue sky.

Look up into Heaven. You will see them above.
The horse we lost, the horse we loved.
Manes and tails flying, they gallop through time.
They were never yours, they were never mine.

Don't cry for the horses, they will be back someday.
When our time has come, they will show us the way.
Do you hear that soft nicker close to your ear?
Don't cry for the horses, love the ones that are here.

What a lovely animal and a lucky boy as his guardian angel must have been looking after him.
My old TB had 7 owners in 2 years before I bought him and I had him for 11 years before he was put down with bad arthretic hip

Am really sorry to hear you have lost Monty, he was a very lucky lad to have found you and had those special years with you. You gave him those extra years which he may have never have seen if you hadnt rescued him.

Was a lovely tribute to such a stunning lad and just keep thinking of all those lovely happy memories you have off him. RIP Monty x

What a lovely tribute, he was so lucky to have found you. Had tears rolling down my face as I read this then laughed out load at the thought of him spooking at his own leg!

RIP big man.

JDx

What a lovely story. How wonderful that he found you and his remaining years were so happy. You will be sad but you are so lucky that you will have such happy memories to treasure. RIP Monty.
