Monumental moments of 2012

No piccies, but I backed Chloe properly, as opposed to just sitting on her in the field. Have progressed to riding her out and am taking her out alone. Huge for me as it's my first backing project, I don't have any help or school and I didn't really buy her to ride. Would love to get pics of me on her, but so far haven't seen anyone I know whilst out with her!!

Little Miss Daisy, 2012 Rescue Cob of the Year. From the Traditional gypsy cob association. Rescued by ourselves and nursed back to health. Did some showing with her too, she was a star!

The day my boy arrived at his new home in september with me! Best moment of my life, let alone the year :D (He's since put on weight, built up muscle and looks a bit tidier now despite being fluffy)

Getting my 14 year old 15.2hh who couldn't jump a cross pole 2 years ago as a 12 year old (he hadn't jumped before) to jump BS discovery!
So pleased with him (although he is a quirky one!)

This bundle of (mostly) joy :p :)
We are a rescue centre so rarely get babies, especially of the horse variety and poor Daisy was being a first time mum at at least 21! But once they got the milk bar sorted with a bit of help it's all gone brilliantly and Daisy has been an amazing mum, and Treena is a star, if a little too intelligent for her own good!

Very bless her. Her foal is now nearly three and has a fab home, rather different to the poor minute old foal I rescued out the brook at -4 from the neighbour..... They failed to notice there new mare had a secret , so poor she had no milk... So poor got her at 14hh now 15.1!
 
Buying a second horse that I hope will get me back in to competing. Will be starting from scratch as she's only 5 and neither of us have done a lot.

Best moment - coming 2nd in a dressage comp on my veteran who 2 yrs ago I thought I'd never ride again.

2nd best moment - buying my 4 year old mare.
 
First sit on Tinner! It was just one of those days where it's the right time and place, he was really chilled, it was hot, me and my friend had been faffing about with him for ages, OH turned up so extra pair of hands. This is 1st Sept - he's had a saddle on once before, in May. A bit of bellying over and leading about, then leg over and I was up. He was totally chilled - haven't done anything since, and he's going to be professionally backed in the spring.

Thanks! He won't be doing as much next year as my four year old will begin her eventing career :) good luck to you as we'll :D
 
For me one that really sticks out was getting my homebred TB ex racer through to his first win at BE100, it was at Pulborough. Such an amazing yet frustrating season. As I'm sure anyone who does BE would agree, it was week after week (of those events not cancelled due to the weather :o) of wondering when it would be our day - the 'if onlys' of if that pole hadn't gone down, if we'd just got half a mark less in the dressage, if we'd not gotten that time fault etc etc. Always believing he had it in him and just being desperate for it all to come together.

Finally it happened and when his rider saw the boards and rang down to me at the trailer I just burst into tears and couldn't speak (welling up now just thinking about it). It may never happen again, but golly what a feeling :D It also meant that he finished 3rd in the RoR section of the South East Eventers League, well chuffed :)

Unfortunately no pic of the red rosette as we waited literally hours in the rain until it was dark for the prizegiving as we weren't going home without it!

Scope certainly isn't his problem - but he's got to pick up those front feet!
 
Aww!! Some fabulous stories!

Mine are nowhere near as spectacular but I spent 6 weeks in the summer turning a weed and bramble infested field into three perfectly manicured paddocks. The best moment of my year was on October 1st... seeing my two step off the ramp and grazing together (Alfie's riggy and Bonnie's an escape artist and both have terrible separation anxiety. They've both been on their own for too long).

My second was December 5th, the moment I brought Ollie off the lorry. His owner's had a double lung transplant this yr so she was desperate for someone to take him and I fell totally in love. He's not the easiest horse to ride but we clicked and it was magic. Seeing he and Alfie together, nipping and rearing and mud wrestling on thieir knees just makes me feel like my life's complete :)

This was them yesterday. Alfie, Bonnie and Ollie. Thick as thieves.

My childhood dream came true this year. Before I got my first horse at 15 I rode at a riding school/trekking centre and used to dream of having my favourite pony as my own (as you do). This August he came home, 14 years after I first met him. He is my dream come true and I love him so much! I feel like a 12 year old again. I can't seem to post a picture at the moment. I also got engaged this year, got a much better job and went to Australia, so it's been a pretty immense year :)
 
Competing my first ever 110 on my very quirky horse when i was unsure about our partnership and getting placed in the qualifier and the 1.20 final!

Stupid phone.

It was love at first sight.

He was a out of condition hacking pony and by december his dressage training is coming on well - not bad for a 15 yo who'd not been trained in any dressage :-)
 
At the end of 2011, I had to lead Ned around the school until he stopped spooking and snorting before I could even think about getting on.

At the end of 2012, I was hacking 7+ miles, just me and him!

Rode to my house, just me and Ned :D
Never ever thought I'd do it, let alone so easily :O It's around an 8 mile round trip!
