I had an amazing moment with my horse this evening. I've just moved yards 3 days ago, and decided to go along with someone for a hack in The New Forest - but I wanted to just lead him in hand (in a bridle) since he is young, inexperienced, spooky and it would be his first time out in his new area and also first time out with a hot-to-trot mare ;)

He had been really good, just very looky, and doing his best snorting stallion impression...when at one point when we were passing through a narrow gap between two gorse bushes, he rushed ahead, and I lost my balance, landed on gorse and lost hold of the reins. He bolted...and didn't stop to look back....I thought "bugger, he doesn't know where he is, and this is a huge area, he could get completely lost, or worse still run into a road".

He was long gone...I carried on looking for him, going in the general direction I saw him go...then spotted him - he had stopped maybe a 1/4 mile away in the distance - and was looking back - I called to him - and to my astonishment, he immediately started to trot, then canter towards me - he cantered all the way back to me, and stopped pretty well right by me. Wow!
It was an amazing moment! I don't think I will ever forget that! I'm so pleased we have such a bond that he came straight back when I called :)
Very pleased with my boy this evening, and it's made me see how important I am to him as well...

Anyone else have any amazing horse moments?

That was super and such a relief for you i'm sure.My wow moment was when my little wild rescue pony allowed me to sit with him on the grass with his head on my lap. It doesn't get much better.

Yesterday evening had a canter through the middle of the newly cut hay field. I have had a real tough time getting my pony to canter and ended getting help from Richard maxwell who even admitted she wasnt easy. Last night I took her out wearing shorts and joddy boots coz wasnt planning on riding and just asked her to go and off she went no questions asked. Didn't gallop but let her go it was a lovely feeling to do that on a summers afternoon

This.

Me and my boy have always had a good bond, this was only a day or two after owning him! Talk about clicking :D

LollyDolly, I used to do that with my welshy :(

Cobby is just such a pleasure to be around that most of our extra special moments are under saddle, there have been some great schooling sessions where just everything was right :o

I had one during a schooling session last winter. It was dark and we were alone on the yard. My pony's usual attempt at dressage was head up, giraffe impression, fast as possible. For some reason she just clicked that night and i had the most magical time with transitions; calm, slow and relaxed :)
theyre lovely arent they? :)

I had only seen Benson lay down in his stable once in 10 years of having him. The one time it happened was when he was on night turnout, so in during the day. I was sent home from work after discovering my last round of IVF treatment had failed. I got to the yard, saw him laying down, so went in with him, sat next to him and he lay his head across my lap, and went to sleep. He knew I needed him, and he was there for me.

Many years ago, after the death of my beloved mare, still grieving, I was preparing her old stable for my new horse's arrival.
Suddenly, the stable seemed to fill with her presence, I could almost hear her breathing and my heart was full to bursting as the words came into my head, 'love her as you loved me and use what I have taught you to make her life better'.

Fanciful, perhaps, but comforting, definitely.

Horserider you have made me weep!
After three and a half years of issues and angst my girlie and I seem to be having lots of magical moments now. She is doing all I ask of her and more now she's under saddle, to the point where I wonder whether I'm good enough for her....

Every time he stops eating hay or mooching about and comes over to me and just breathes in my air and face, big puffs with his eyes closed, we can just stand together, he rests his head on me and goes all relaxed. It's perfect and I'm sure his version of a big squeezey cuddle.
Also his reaction to his breeder, someone who he lived with three years untill I bought him, he hears his voice and whickers, goes over to him and is ever so gently (he is an older chap now) nuzzling him before coming back to stand by me. As if to say he understands the change of ownership almost, gorgeous animals aren't they.

When my very grummpy Arab finally clicked with me and would gallop across the field when he saw me. Took about 10 - 12 months before I could get near him then one day he just clicked :D

Oh and when me and King did our flying changes in our lesson when asked instead off I can just do them look! Also the day he wickered to me only took about 2 years :D

The moment when I realised that my boy wasn't a nightmare to lunge - he just wanted to come and stand with me instead of being sent away :)

And when he shouted hello to me for the first time. And, and, and - so many moments! What amazing animals, we are so lucky that they allow us into their lives so completely.

I feel all tearful now! I bet my boy will be a nightmare today, now that I have said how much he likes me :D

when he let me sit on him for the very first time :)

Ditto :) I had always dreamt of being the first person ever to sit on a horse, and it was amazing, even more so considering most people up my yard thought he was dangerous and a complete psycho.

Best moment with my mums horse (our first horse) was about 2-3 years after we got him. He wasn't very vocal, we'd heard him neigh about twice, and he never acknowledged our presence when we came to see him- he is very much 'anyone's horse' he will do as asked and appreciates his food, but he never misses us when we go away or anything.
He had trodden on a nail when he was turned out by the YO that morning, and thankfully a vet had been there for another horse, so long story short he'd been taken to the vets, x-rayed, bandaged etc and brought home, while me and mum were out all day and couldn't get home. He was quite lame the first day but vets said he would be fine. When I walked up to him in his stable he let out the loudest nicker to me, and strained over his door to touch me, and gave me a big hug, which he never had before. It was the first time he'd ever been pleased to see me even though others had ensured he was well looked after, and it made me cry! :o

When we moved yards and then I immediately had to go away for a few days so he must have thought he had been sold poor boy. When I went up to see him he flew up to me and stood kind of whispering, whickering really softly, in my ear. I have never heard him do it again it was almost as if he was saying he thought he had lost me - I just hugged him I was so touched with the soppy old boy!

I must say, My mare has had me tearful in a few situations. But by far the one that pulled my heart strings was when we arrived at the yard after she had foaled (didnt know she was in foal- BOGOF) and i was standing at the top of the paddock and she galloped up, shouting to me! Stopped and wrapped her neck around me and the foal! Never cried to many happy tears in my life! Horses really know how to make you feel amazing!

My Girl!

Quite a few! Various horses.

On Bustie, was jumping the gate bareback and no hands...as I used to be nervous of jumping the gate [we did end up jumping it upright with a pole on top too eventually :D].

My eldest was about 11 months old & I wasn't able to ride my boy as much as I would like so I was seriously considering finding him a new home where he could be appreciated.
He was turned out with another horse & they had bonded so well & totally adored each other...do much so you could feed one of them in the field & there was never any issue.
One evening I was feeding my boy & my son was stood holding onto the gate, banging on it. The field mate came over to investigate what was going on. The next moment my horse, left his feed & came racing over. He chased his field mate off & then stood 'guarding' my son so that the field mate couldn't get back to him. He was quite clearly saying 'this is MY herd, stay away'
Needless to say his place in this family until the end of his days was secured at that moment :)

In fact him & my son have got the most amazing bond & several things have happened that have made my heart melt.

My most amazing moment was when I had taken my boy to the vet horspital fully expecting him not to come home ever, and not only did he come home, but he trotted up the road with a swing in his little hoofs xx

The other week I had an amazing moment with my new horse, when he came I thought i'd made a huge mistake as he was so nervous and explosive- I really thought I was in trouble as I'd spent all my money and had a nutter on my hands! But it turned out it was just him being insecure. I don't think he's ever had an 'owner' as such with one to one attention which is what he needs.

Anyway after getting through his schooling fears and panics in the school he soon settled and totally relaxed, and now will do anything- but what makes the best moments are when he comes up to me in the field despite his friend galloping off and when he lay his head on my lap and fell sleep on me! I have a video of it :p skip to about 2:15 for the cutest bit ! just before my phone died on me

I have a magic moment every time I go into the stable to have a cuddle with my boys... One likes to lick my face (sounds gross, but it is actually cute) and rest his head on top of mine or on my shoulder. The other one lets me hold his head in his arms and give him kisses, and always whinnies to me softly when I walk past the stable.

One really cool moment was when I was with Seb at a competition and I arrived in the morning to plait him up again, and he was lying down resting, so I sat next to him and plaited his whole mane while he was lying down. Made it so much easier too!!

We are so blessed to have these beautiful animals in our lives :)

When I turned him out a couple of days ago after a really long ride, I decided to stand and watch him and his mate for a couple of mins and he wandered back over and stood with me :-) only a little thing but still precious

That is really sweet, it's easy to see you are both smitten with each other! :)
Thanks for sharing the video :)

The day I got out of hospital after breaking my jaw at 14... I walked up the field and my Arab was sleeping. He must have caught my scent as he sat up and have out the loudest whinny ever and I sat that day tucked between his neck and his front legs and I swear that horse knew I just needed some peace and fresh air.

He came to me a dangerous animal as well, but he was one in a million and the most amazing person. R.I.P Floyd x
