What's the most ridiculous thing your horse is scared of??

Mine is scared of his Likit when I hang it up in his stable, grows about 2 hands, snorts & won't go near it, so funny!!!

SNOWDROPS yes, snowdrops. especialy when grouped in terrifying clumps. they cause lots of shying and snorting.
Strangely, she thinks daffodils are ok.
wierd.

Anything that isn't the colour it should be - yellow bushes, brown grass verges which are meant to be green.....But tractors, lorries, the steam train which hisses and toots past the yard she doesn't mind at all!

My pony is scared of yellow tractors, but only yellow ones. We tested this theory quite extensively and it proved true.
My old boy was afraid of his weave bar when he went to stay at the vets. Wouldn't go near the front of his stable - simply couldn't work it out. They had to remove it!
I found my current TB with a bin liner in his mouth in his field - no clue how he got hold of it, assumed it blew in. Anyway walked calmly towards him praying he wouldn't try eat it. He walked towards me, the wind made the bin liner rustle, he went mad! Galloped round his field for a good 5mins yet refused to drop the bloody bin liner. Eventually he saw sense and opened his mouth and the bin liner fell out. But what an idiot, only my horse would attempt to eat a bin liner.

How long you got?

His own shadow, purple flowers (even though everything I have for him is purple), leaves, puddles, carrier bags (although will stick his head in a big feed bag!), his white stall guard when I first put it up and the list goes on

One of mine is scared of everything - including her own shadow (not exagerating). She got caught short on a hack once and had a wee. Since she was on a slight slope it trickled down past her. She took off like a bat out of hell. She firmly believes all puddles will drown her and will spend hours in the winter on the hard ground around the gates because she doesnt want to step on the squidgy grass which is almost certainly a HORSE EATING SWAMP in her very tiny equine brain. She is the middle aged horse.... My youngster is scared of nothing other than one house I hack past and she is convinced it is lived in by horse murderers. We start snorting about 50 metres away from it, go past on tippy toes and then scuttle away on the other side.

the only thing that Ruby (5yr old TB chestnut mare) is scared of is bikes, but only it they come towards her and only if they don't speak (aparently it is rude not to acknowledge the gorgeous one) It is rare that she spooks at anything else.

Sidney (15yr old TB gelding) on the other hand "spooks" (if that could be the word for the snort and passing said object while keeping a close eye on it and his hindquaters well away) at what ever particularly takes his fancy at the time. Could be Rubbish bags, roadsigns (the small temporary ones) infact anything that falls into the "that wasn't there yesterday mum" catagory.

Andy (small white welshie) thinks spooking is for "poofs" and he is 'ard don't ya know or so he would like to make you belive before he runs away at the sight of the head collar!

Every time we hack out up the road we get to the junction and just before are huge white letters saying STOP, and she does, STOP DEAD, every sodding time, without fail. I swear she can read...

i had a horse who was terrified of those big thistle leaves that are silvery-white. he wasn't fazed by a 42 tonne lorry though...!
Moosie is frightened of patches of clover or darker patches of grass. has nearly had me off a number of times because of this.

not mine, but a friends would quite happily go along past flapping umbrellas, hedges and the liek but out on a hack once, saw a crsip packet in the middle of the road and wouldnt budge, a man driving past had to get out of his car and pick it up for them so she'd walk on!

Well last week it was a daffodil! And it was the same one each day that we had trouble with and would send him sideways and up in the air! We have got over that now thankfully. My boy is scared and spooky by the little stuff...a bush that looks odd, a plant sticking out of the verge, a haynet carried in the wrong way across his field!!! But he will stand by the side of the road and not bat an eye as artic lorries rumble past, tractors and trailers no problem! Helicopters, hot air balloons landing a few feet in front of us, shooting, fireworks...not a problem. We even had a helicopter land in the field next to him for a wedding and he was more curious than bothered by it...just stood staring at it!!!

LMFAO at all you guys!!! So funny!

S is a strange creature, her 'monsters' change day by day. She hates any rustly bags but doesn't bat an eyelid at tractors & the like. In fact, she will follow YO's hubby in his tractor if he has to go through her field. I am not joking, she will follow alongside him. Crazy pony!

She is scared silly of the hose pipe. I've never been able to bath her because obviously, the hose pipe is a flesh eating snake that will gobble her whole. No matter that she will watch me filling her water bucket up in the stable etc. The hose is Not To Be Trusted!

Also been known to be scared of grooming brushes before now, brushes changed day by day & it the spooks at the were intermittent but her grooming kit is not to be trusted. apparently.

That's like mine! She will stand & watch fireworks, actually stand with her head up looking at them

But throws a hissy fit at a sandwich bag I've just taken my sandwich from! Of course, we all know that sandwich bags are capable of dragging you off & all are horse hungry monsters just waiting to pounce on the unsuspecting

humans bent over things - e.g. bent over a pram or bending down to hold onto a dog - humans are supposed to be upright

My old mare was scared of pushchairs. Very scary!! A great big chieften tank however, no problem. Beggars belief really doesn't it!!

lol my cob who should be completely bombproof (although he is getting better with age) is scared of bikes, but not motor bikes, the other day my sister was on a walk with me and got on him to go home and he jumped 3' in the air when he saw a bike that was on the road near the bridle way. He is scared of water(puddles, ditches, water complexes etc.) and will walk everywhere but into it, including up 5' banks, unless you are doing an xc course and then he will pull towards it! He has a deep dislike of all things laminated, and the straw barn which houses a dun cob eating monster. Dressage boards are also rather terrifying in fields and the aim of them is to jump out of them, rather than stay inside of them
tongue.gif
he also dislikes bananas and has taken to trotting away from me in the field if I start eating one in front of him lol my jangly bracelets can be terrifying too

NOTHING, my horses are scaried of nothing... Not to say they don't spook, go mad, and throw all toys out the pram.

Jesse, would grass happily with world war three going off around him, maybe even have a little nible or prester for attention.

Tollar although bold, can jump at his own shadow. Finds velcro rather nevre racking.

Rambo, my last farrier!

George is absolutely terrified of the ducks - and even worse than that - the goose who is sitting in the goose house - as she hisses at him every time he walks past. That is really really scary....

Although usually the most he does when he scared of something is heavy breathing.... He hasn't done too much jumping around with me yet - but I think that is only because jumping around might constitute some sort of physical exercise!!! Honestly this horse should have a big sofa and a games console.....
