Mostly white

Yes you can definitely see Hercorose in your boy. I'm so excited to see my mare's half brother! We're in Berkshire too - I'll keep an eye out for you at shows.

I don't know why really, just think they look better and more quality with less white, especially on the head. My new mare is dark bay and has no white markings at all, I think that looks classy too. Not sure why I think this, possibly got it from my mother.

I can show you another one too! This is my boys full brother who was a year younger who we didn't buy. He did have one half blue eye, but my sister and I flipped a coin sat in the pub in the end. :)

And do keep an eye out for me and come say hello. He's entered as Cow at as many places as will allow as his passported name is even worse. :)

I'm just not partial to any coloured tbh, mostly white or not.

But then I think that stems mostly from me not particularly liking cobs :o I do tend to associate coloureds with cobs and I'm just a finer breed type that's all.

I can appreciate a well marked well put together coloured though cob or not.

My chap is mostly white and I do find he gets a 'marmite' reaction at shows - sometimes he wins, sometimes he's last, and we have heard comments about how 'that one shouldn't be in this class, it's not even coloured' and the like. I think he's stunning though so don't care what they think!

He's gorgeous! Love his eyes, and you have got him so white!

Thanks, I think so :) I've gotten rather good at bathing and chalking since I bought him I must say! How did you get my picture to show properly, please? I couldn't figure it out

I am one with a deep seated dislike of "mostly white" coloureds as far as having one myself is concerned - I think your mare is lovely OP and I wouldn't want to offend you, she is just not a colour I would pick.

I can't say it is for "too much cleaning" either as I have a grey and despite his muddy tendencies I absolutely love him. I often think horses with minimal colour in various different places can distort the general conformation exaggerate slight faults, I also do not really take to pink skinned horses.

I know the saying "a good horse is never a bad colour" is widely used, and I would agree with that but I also wouldn't follow it. I think if I am buying a horse I want something which genuinely takes my eye. I will always look for a grey or a chestnut unless something is very special, I've had two coloureds and one of them, although I thought he was beautifully marked, had too much white on his face and it constantly bothered me.

Everyone was always very complimentary about my gelding Chico. He definitely stood out :)

I bed on pellets so never had too much trouble keeping him clean. Have to say when he was scrubbed up for a show he looked amazing!

Wow I did a triple take then, my filly is a dead ringer for your boy, apart from the coloured bib and extra blotch!

I've ended up with 2 mostly whites but colour didn't come into it. Filly has v good breeding and my boy has the best temperament. Although my fave is a chestnut so at least I did get some of that!

I think they're all. Gorgeous! It's like attraction in men though it's a taste thing don't you think, could never love a blond bloke, like dark hairy men, ha!

This is my Mare - in the show ring the judges either really like her or they dont! just like Marmite.
BUT if ONE more person asks if she is a cob I will flip lol ( Nothing against Cobs at all , just she isn't one )

This completely!

I love coloureds but prefer hem with more colour then white just like my mare -

He's lovely too. I'll certainly look out for Cow!

I agree with the cleaning thing having got a coloured (faded at that!) who is basically white and I mean WHITE (not grey white like one of my other horses). I wanted a coloured and would have preferred something with more colour than white purely from a cleaning-effort point of view (and the fact I like to keep my horses out so thats even harder). But really it doesn't bother me how white she is, its all about temperament for me, not colour. Oh and luckily she is actually a very clean horse which makes me like her even more ;) I actually had to brush a little bit of mud off her today, was shocked she'd actually rolled!

it is strange becasie my first coloured had a pretty much even amount of colour and white, with an almost solid head (bar a tiny star) and if you had asked me then if i woudl have had a mostly white coloured i would have said no, they just didnt appeal to me.
However....
I then ended up with Chico (see photos in previous post) and I was smitted with his colouration. He had such a pretty pretty head and was quite finely built as part arab so he was a proper flashy looking horse.

Have to say though that just becasue I liked Chico doesnt mean i like all mostly whites, to be honest I still prefer the more heavily coloured coloureds. Weird isnt it?!

I do though like unusual looking horses, why else would I now have a silver dapple bucksin varnish appaloosa!!!

I really like this horse but it has nothing to with the colour, just love his confirmation and the general shape and look of him. He is fabulous and I am not a fan of coloureds in general. As someone said earlier a good horse is never a bad colour.

I'm not into coloureds, then bred a pure bred arabian who is sabiano, which I enjoy as she is different. I think what is wrong is when people breed for colour rather than conformation. I'd rather have a quality solid than a poorer coloured. There is also the association with heavier, courser types so people seeking blood horses would not want something coloured. That is changing as colour can be in some very high quality blood horses, but there are still those who breed for colour not quality, which is imho very wrong. Whatever quality & type they should be the best quality possible for the health of the animal.

Interesting post OP (an I love your coloured). I wouldn't discount any colour of horse, although I do think bays are boring. However, given the choice I would go for a coloured with minimal white because I hate the pre show bathing marathon and having to suncream pink bits is a pain. I have had a cremello, a very light grey and currently have two mostly white coloureds.
