First of all. I'm sorry. I really hate those begging threads asking you to sign this and share that.
However I'm breaking my own rule once and only once to post this.
At the end of my road is a small field, it had so far gone unnoticed by the Council's plan to build on every available part of London and for 17 years I've walked dogs on it, played as a kid on it and most recently used it as a safe space to socialise Mrs Spaniel and teach recall at the beginning when it was non-existent!
It has been policed by local residents in all that time, we've planted bulbs, campaigned for poo bins, and for travellers to be removed when they pitch up.
It is large enough to take half an hour to walk around once, but yet small enough for training and to be visible from the road and at this time of year invaluble as is brightly lit from the road on two sides, on a bus route and always has at least one other dog walker to keep you company.
Now the council wish to sell it off. The only alternative is a poorly lit, large park where there is only one access point (down an avenue of bushes) after dark as they lock all other gates. It is dangerous - I have witnessed drug deals and had teenagers leap out of the bushes at me. You feel very isolated and alone at all points in the dark.
All we are asking for, is that the council allow us access to the field. As mentioned we are respectful and keep it tidy and mostly walk on the edges.
Mrs Spaniel and I therefore ask that you might take a few moments out of your time to sign the petition and hope that we can force the council to notice dogwalkers in the community.
