For anyone planning ahead, Mud (remember what that is?!) Control mats are available at show prices, although the saving is rather tiny @ £1 per sq metre.
I have a still have a stack in my back garden that was not the plan!
mine need to be in somerset not cambridgeshire, but given that we got hay baled today at least they aren't required right now, I just don't have the biggest of gardens.Mine are stacked by the water trough ready to be laid wherever the worst mud will be in my new field. One day.
Have you tried putting sand or wood pellet bedding or even soil on top, or old grass mats if you have any lying around? All of these have worked for other horses who were very suspicious initially. My horse will not walk on his. Most expensive treat mat for wilting nettles on that I have ever bought.
