Hi, I have had my lad for 3 years and never had a problem with mud fever so know very little about it.. Today i find a small scabby area in the soft area behind his front foot.. a friend said.. mud fever.. I know how to treat it but what I can't find is any information as to wether or not I can ride. And if I do would I be making the problem worse.
If anyone on here is super knowledgeable

would there be a connection between my lad having prednisolone (steroids) and his immunity making him more susceptible to mud fever...
Thanks

No idea about the steroids but my horse is a bit prone to mud fever and it doesn't stop me riding her. I clean it up, apply some barrier cream to keep the skin supple and waterproof and away we go.
