I've been tempted many times but most of the ones I've seen are too small
 
Absolutely brilliant, and you clearly put a big smile on the judge's face!! Can't wait to read about her SJ debut.
 
I def think you could get some interest in any comp you do as it’s pretty unusual! Great first outing.

I’m clueless, but would she be judged in dressage exactly the same as for horses/ponies - do mules move and work in the same way/outline etc?

I guess she should be judged against the same standards. The only thing I really have a problem with is her walk which is naturally lateral- she walks like a camel ?
But she can work in an outline and she moves well in trot and canter- her mother is PRE so she has a good bit of knee action and is very smooth

My Ardennes used to do that! I ended up in a haybarn once - not at all embarrassing.

How did dam meet donkey? Or does no-one know?

? Its Hilarious, and there’s very little I can do once she's off!

The stud swore there was no chance of her meeting a donkey so we're presuming daddy jumped in, did the deed and jumped out again…… my mule can jump, she has clearly got that from somewhere!
 
Mules are amazing jumpers. There's a mini mule at my yard who regularly hops over 4ft fences. This animal is the size of a Shetland pony!

Ha! That's exactly what my cob does! She took us into a different stable block at the yard the other day. On the bright side, we're about to move in there, so it's a good sign for her settling well.

Its an Ardennes special. I'm not sure he even realises the slightly annoying pressure on his mouth is his human gently (or not so) requesting left or right.

It was once described to me as "talk to the hoof because the mouth ain't listening"
 
I was in the now shut, famous saddlery in Sandon about 15 years ago. There was this weird bit (they had loads on display, they weren’t for sale) -it was kind of a gag with shanks for straps but using those activated a straight bar across the curb groove. The ladies in there were of a generation let’s say-one told me the bit was ‘for the kind of horse who would take off in walk with you-those sort of cobs that set their necks and embarrass you out hunting’ ?. Also dispels those myths about all horses in the past being perfect citizens.
 
You look like a fantastic partnership. Well done for taking on the dressage divas and smashing it. She's lovely and what a forward thinking judge. It must have been such a positive experience for you. Cant wait to hear about your next trip out. Does she jump nicely?
