Hi everyone, a bit of advice and opinions sought after regarding this. Not really looking for saddle suggestions after very gratefully receiving plenty of recommendations. Firstly here is a bit of a background information, 5 yr old croup high gelding, who does windsuck, after being kept stabled as a stallion previously until last year. I have owned him for just over a year, he is now living out and had a lot of growing up to do and a fair few issues so I let him live out to grow up and mature, then slowly started tackling each issue on the ground. He has made huge progress however he is now ready to start progressing under saddle and muscle soreness is holding him back. He has recently had a new saddle fitted and last week he had the physio out, however after the physio had been out he has shown signs of pain when putting on the saddle and doing the girth up which he didn't show before and also he is very sore. I love this horse dearly, but I would also love to just go on one hack sooner or later!
Just to add, teeth and back have also been checked and physio/chiro had no concerns.
After speaking to my instructor we can both see there is something not right, he is sore all over his back, shoulders and lower back, so we are not doing anything with a saddle on. I am going to give him 3 weeks of long reining only, coupled with stretches and massage (with the rubber curry).
Have i missed anything? Part of me is considering ulcers also...
