Hi all! I was an active member of this form a while back but haven't posted for a bit and of course forgot my login  I hope this is okay to post, I just thought to post here as I am looking for some toy horses which used to be around in the 90s called My Beautiful Horses. I charity shopped my collection years ago and would love to get hold of some of these models again, thought it may be worth asking about them here :)

Ahhh my goodness - are they the ones with the flowing manes and tails that came in a little plastic bag on the front of a magazine??

Ok I have Googled and I think they are. Message me - whereabouts are you? I will have to go and investigate the shed but I am reasonably sure I have somewhere around 100 million of them out there. Or possibly still in my parents' loft.

I think I even have the pink horse lorry.

ETA they do seem to be rather high priced on eBay at the moment...rather like real horses perhaps...I will check what I have.

I have a stash of these that I've never bought myself to part with, including the pink lorry and the stable set up!

Hi all and thanks for your replies :) I must admit I have tried Ebay but the ones they have on there at the moment as buy it nows seem to be rather overpriced compared to a couple of auctions I've seen (and cleverly missed the end of ) so I've been putting off buying them!

Apologies, I feel like my previous comment looked like me trying to get them cheaply! But I honestly only said that based on what I've seen them go for :) It was more played with ones I was looking at though :)

A friend collects these, good condition ones ARE worth a fair bit, a collection could fund a saddle.......
I have actually SO many of these, mostly in good condition.. do you know of anyone who I could talk to (possibly your friend) about how best to list some of them?

Really never thought they were worth money rather than sentimentality... ?

Didn't realise they were worth so much either! Have a huge tub from childhood in my mums loft, and recently got a few as part of a bundle off fb, including the horsebox. Not parting unfortunately, too much sentimental value!

This takes me back to being a child and my mother insisting we kept the boxes for my Barbie horse and stable etc as 'one day they will be worth something'
Fast forwards 20 odd years and I still have boxes of school reports which are completely worthless, but the toys that could actually have had value are long gone ?

I have some and also Julip horses, I put them as a job lot on eBay a while ago but they didn't sell and then I took all my listings down as I don't really want to stand in the post office at the hight of the virus. I have accessories and horses but the condition varies. I can hunt them out and see what I have. I gave the bulk of collection to a friends child :(

Hi Courbette, now Julips I know are worth money if they are the Originals, are the ones you have made of latex and bendy (ie, bendy in such a way that they bend and the legs stay in position?) do you know? If they are then they are Originals and worth more, if not they are the Horse of the Year range, these don't tend to be so popular as they are newer but there is still interest in them I think :) I know quite a few collectors of Julips, even had a few myself a while back. Obviously it's not ideal at the moment with the virus but if you do feel inclined to put the ones you have left up again one day, especially if they are the Originals, I'd reccommend putting them up as individual items as collectors are quite often looking for particular models but are sometimes put off by higher priced job lots; I think you'd get more interest/ bidders with individual items though I know it's a faff to sort out. If you want feel free to send me a photo and I can try to advise/ help if you'd like :)

Re the MBH models you have, I'd love to see those if you have any left and are considering rehoming :)

I've been doing a bit more research since this post, it seems like the price of MBH models has been a bit up and down and varies depending on that models they are. I've seen some end really cheaply on Ebay but then there are some collectors out there who will pay more for particular models in good condition. I paint model horses so am mostly looking for some to customise, so I don't mind if they are play worn or even bald!

I'll dig the MBH out. The Julips are all the HOTY. I have sold quite a few so have only the more common models left now such as Silver Cloud and Midnight and one bendy legged HOTY grey arab. I find the Julips facinating, the prices flutuate so much. I have been keeping my eyes open for some originals. If I turn any up I'd love to get some more info as I know very little about the various moulds.

Aha! They are fascinating aren't they, some of the really old ones go for so much. I know a couple of people who do amazing renovations on some of the really old ones that've gone all gooey and cracked. I had my little collection about ten years ago now, so they were originals but the newer ones, it was great fun picking colours and ordering them. Sold them to help with vet bills so it was worth letting them go but I do miss them. The company has been taken over by someone new now and happily they are still making them (not sure if you've seen the website but if not it's here http://www.juliporiginals.co.uk/about-julip-2/ :) )

Is anyone familiar with Magpies too? That's another company that's not long been taken over and gotten going again, though it's on hiatus at the moment due to Covid. I've only ever had the blank shells they do to paint, but they are really charming models, hoping to buy a couple more when they get going again. I've mostly had Breyers in the past but have a great fondness for these somewhat simpler models.

I have multiple magpie models at my parents house but too sentimental to part with, also have the tack and stables used to spend hours playing with them

I dont think I have them anymore but I have/ had 2 Julip models they were the ones between the 80's originals and the more cobby build 2000's ones they are from the early 90's. If i still have them and the prices were ridiculous would be open to selling as less sentimental value

I had my beautiful horses but think I got rid of them they all had pulled manes or were hogged as I didnt do long manes as thought they looked silly ?

Ooh fab, Magpie models are lovely aren't they. I reckon Julip Originals from the early 90s might go well on Ebay, worth a try :) It seems to fluctuate a little bit but they are always quite popular.

I cut most of the manes on mine too, they were a bit ott weren't they ?

I've got loads of MBH. I was going to ship them off to someone on here who posted about them a while ago but they were at my Mum and Dad's and by the time I finally went home I forgot about them. I doubt they'd be worth much though as I cut all the manes and tails. I thought all horses should have pulled manes and neat tails when I was a kid, which is funny as I was a big Arab fan! I also painted white socks and face markings onto some of them. I did love them, I wish I could remember what they were all called! I can only remember a couple now.

I have loads of magpies and quite a few of the old julips too. plus the julip stable that slotted together, and the magpie stable and god knows what. at least I did have.... hopefully it's not just a melted blob of plastic and rubber in my parents loft now  I can't even remember when I last looked at them but I think I'd regret it if I sold them (and I'm a pretty ruthless declutterer)

Ooh I’d possibly be interested in them please if you did decide to rehome ? That’s just reminded me I customised some of the ones I had back then with Tipex and permanent marker ??

I think Julips and Magpies are the kind of lovely toy that’s nice to hold onto aren’t they. I’m a very ruthless declutterer, I don’t have any of my childhood toys save for a couple of soft ones!

I’ve got loads! My daughters play with them now and it takes me back!
They don’t make models like that any more, that look like real horses. They’d all have unicorn horns and scouse brows today. And the riders would be dressed up like prostitutes like all other dolls seem to be.

I never had the pink lorry though! I did have the showtime stables with the spotlight..!

I used to have so many of these, plus the stable that folded away into a carry case, jump sets, and quite a bit of tack. They seem to have disappeared during one of our many house moves, but I still have one left. Looking at eBay, mine would have been worth quite a bit by now!

I have quite a lot of models left over from my childhood and from when I collected them a few years back during Uni. I've got some Breyer, Peter Stone, artist resin, Julip and Magpie. I always really wanted My Beautiful Horses but I only ever had the odd few from magazines as I usually got Julip ones as presents instead. My Mum had some of the very first Magpie ones ever made from when they first started out in the 70's and were called Dream ponies!

Oh yes I'd forgotten they were called that to start with! I had a huge model horse collection, Breyers, resins etc, between about 2005 and 2010 then let sold everything save for a couple of models, came in handy to help with vet bills! I'm just getting involved with the hobby again now doing some painting.

Yeah wasnt a fan of the floor length manes not very practical! Yeah the Magpies are lovely got one that looked a bit like the rs pony I used to love to quite sentimental. Interesting re the Julips I dont tend to do Ebay and not even sure I still have them but worth keeping in mind

And dont forget the my little ponies that are missing half their jaw and lower face! Hideous things, I had the proper ones not the inbred things they produce now!
My dad built me a fantastic row of 6 stables and a tack room for my Magpies I think its still in the roof of my parents garage I used to spend hours playing riding schools and taking them on hacks round the garden I'd also take them when visiting relatives!
