New pup is arriving next week (hooray, for a non-dog person am slightly ridiculously over excited).
He is currently on royal canin but having looked into the ingredients I am not entirely convinced about it (although he will stay on it until he is well settled in here). My starting point for looking at alternatives is looking at what is stocked locally to us. My shortlist is Hills, Barking Heads or Arden grange. Hills doesn't seem to be that different to Royal canin. Barking heads and Arden grange seem relatively similar ,please feel free to disabuse me of that.
Or are there other makes that I should consider?
He is a miniature schnauzer by the way. I want to feed dry.

I'd go for Arden Grange personally.
The dogs at my club that aren't on raw are on AG and there isn't a non-shiny, fit one among them.

Skinners Duck and Rice or Salmon and Rice is a good, cheaper alternative.

Hills and RC are both very expensive IMO, for what you get (Dry dog food. Basically)

get him on the barf diet! dogs shudnt eat that stuf they put in tins, or dry! imagine a wolf opening a tin of pal! or a crunchy eukanuba! lol! a dowt it! dogs guts are designed to digest raw bones an meat! simple an cheaper:) feed once a day, an starve every 7 to 10 days, to let the gut rest, also give tined or raw fish, will produce a shiny and healthy coat, and top food with a spoonful of codliver oil. thanks DIG2zax

Fish4dogs is brill, have my Bulldog on it, very well recommended from other Bulldog owners that have had skin, tummy trouble.
