It was horrible. I think he had been lying there for over an hour - the b*****d didn't stop! I won't give you the gory details but sadly he is still alive and my Mum is taking him to the vet to be put down. I just can't get the image of him out of my head. I really can't deal with these situations and I just feel so melodramatic and silly because its my cat but I love him so much. I don't know what I will do if this happens to my dogs or even worse my horses. People have to deal with so much worse.
Sorry it's a bit of a pointless post but I'm kind of in shutdown mode and I'm not dealing with this well.

Don't feel silly about it being your cat, I'm more attached to my cat than any of my horses!

oh i'm so sorry. It must have been such a shock for you. What a b*****d to not stop and do something i just can't believe someone would do that. (((((((((((hugs))))))))))) to you.

Thanks everyone, you're all really kind. Even if the vet thinks he can be saved we have decided to have him put down anyway to avoid him being in any more pain. And I very much doubt that he can be. It's just so shocking because we live on a very quiet country lane and haven't ever had any accidents like this. It was just so heartbreaking to see him holding on when he was so broken. He was still showing everyone how angry he was by swishing his tail - contrary to the last!

I am soo sorry,i know exactly how you are feeling atm, exactly the same thing happened to our little guy in october last yr

He may be a cat but they are as big a part of your family life as all other animals!
Sending you lots of big hugs, time does heal i promise!xx

I'm so sorry for you and your pet, I have been through the same, small quiet lane and my daughter found our cat lying on the lane at the back of our house. It hurt me terribly at the time because she was a CP cat rescued from neglect and was only two years old.

I can only offer you and your family HUGS and a special goodnight for your little cat.

so sorry, my friends cat got ran over yesterday at 9 in the morning in a quiet cul-d-sac and the b****** didn't even stop.

Oh poor you, Cats they are so wildly independent that to find one clinging on to life and swishing his tail, is even worse.....But you have done the right thing by him / her to decide when enough is enough.
If you can console yourself with the fact that your cat would be grateful for that act of mercy xx

So sorry, we have lost 6 over the years on our quiet country lane and it doesn't get any easier.

RIP little Cat

Very sorry to hear this. O/h's young Bengal got run over in November, a year to the day after we got him. Not nice at all.

Many people, myself included keep their cats indoors due to the increased amount of road traffic...... trouble is, until you loose a cat on the road, it's hard to accept that new way of "indoor cat thinking" and when you have a kitten you have to start as you mean to go. It's very difficult though to turn Rescued cats to indoor home only, as usually that's not the life they had before you had them.

20 years ago, we didn't seem to have this problem. Now RTA's are the biggest killer of cats
RIP Puss
