It's going to be a bit long, sorry.
I have a bit of dilemma, something to ponder about...
I do buy and sell horses as a part of my business, but I mainly sell sports youngstock/competition horses.
However, I have a lovely chap that has been with me for 18 months now, I bought him out of pity, really, for his owner's not for him - he's OK. Turned him out for few months and then brought back to work, found him a job - being my groom's toy/schoolmaster/best friend, but the groom in question is off to uni in September and I need to sell... have no idea how much to ask for him though, so here it goes:
16 hh, 11 years old bay gelding, Polish Warmblood, chunky type - think welsh/TB cross and you get the idea
decently put together, straight moving, easy going chap, lovely to do from the ground, adores grooming, cuddling and all the fuss. Very good doer, barefoot even doing roadwork, hacks out sensibly alone and in company although not really tested in heavy traffic or galloping in huge open spaces - these are not available to me
will pop a jump and has scope, has competed back in Poland up to 110 cm, but doesn't love it as such - is happy to play with jumps, but not reliable competition horse IMO.
With a bit more schooling would do OK in RC or low level BD dressage, should be a dream for fun rides etc.
Loads well, travels OK in lorry or trailer.
ABSOLUTELY no vices.
So, how much should I ask? I am after a good home, where he will be loved and appreciated for how loving he is
