This morning he had his first foot already lifted up for me when I turned with the hoof pick in my hand and each time I put one foot down, he lifted the next one before I'd even got to it! He's never done it before but I hope he'll do it again.

Why's your horse special?

Mine does this when he's feeling nice!!

Mine is special because yesterday due to the actions of other horses, I ended up knocked over in the mud and underneath my terrified horse (who had just got double barrelled!) and he stayed totally still. Don't like to think what would have happened if he didn't as I was by myself, in the dark and a while away from anyone who would have seen/heard me :/

My horse is special because he's often grumpy in his stable so when he is feeling affectionate it means that much more and of course he has big brown eyes and dark hair like his (human) Dad, and an appetite and nostrils like his (human) Mum!

What a great thread

My horse is special because she is always cuddly and so much fun! Not too mention she gave me my confidence back :)

My horse is special because in just three days he's gone from not wanting me anywhere near him to coming over to me in his stable, dozing off whilst being groomed (top of neck to the bottom of his tail, all down his legs and his belly), having both front feet picked up, leading (mostly) nicely around the stable and has coped with having wormer, vaccinations and cough medicine!!

So proud of my little sprog :D

This is a really lovely thread :)

My horse is special because he once farted so loudly while dozing in his stable that he startled himself and almost fell over.

Ah, wait, wrong kind of special...

Mine is special because being a mini she is full of character and makes me smile every day with her gorgeous big brown eyes and her playfulness in the field. She likes nothing more than playing chase with me and when she nudges me she then turns to run for me to chase her. She is a star and I love her to bits. I love the other four as well but Maya is very special.

My horse is special because he can break the bank and look cute doing it!
Today when he had his back done, he thought the lady doing it was grooming him so he started grooming me - this coming from a horse that doesn't do cuddles :D However I could have sent him to tesco yesterday, soaking his legs in water (mild mud fever urgh) and I asked him to pick it up so I could take it out. He picked every other leg up, multiple times, except the one I wanted! Dopey boy!

My horse is special because when he senses I'm down, he'll nose and slobber all over my face until I can't help laughing.

Holy crap! :eek3:

Mine is special because I've taught him to come out of the gate and turn to face me so I don't have to go into the field. Such a sweetie!

My gelding is 'special'... but it isn't a compliment ;)
My PRE rescue is special because she has learned to trust again despite her previous history and is the sweetest goofball of a horse ever.
My Lusitano mare is special because she has tolerated all her medical treatment for her injury with minimal pain relief. She is so brave and I have not a single bad reaction out her despite my amateurish faffing around.

Cos, despite suffering a crappy start in life, he's full of beans and incredibly friendly and trusting (thank you WHW you've done a fab job with and for him)

Pie is special in so many ways.
He is special because he has overcome many problems.
He is special because he's the most obliging horse. He always tries his heart out.
He is special because he makes my heart sing when I ride him.
He is special because he saved me from a very dark place.
He is special because he is my best friend and equine soulmate.

Ah that's fab. My old pony used to do this, and my mare now sometimes does it depending on what mood she's in lol.

My mare is special because she tries to sit in wheelbarrows.

My girl is special because she is protective of me. She put herself between me and a runaway horse the other day, before seeing him off with some pinned ears. I wish she wouldn't though. I can get fixed for free and she can't!

Also because she is training me more effectively than a human could!

My mare is special in many ways.. good and bad. :o

My mare is special because two weeks ago she lost her friend yet she is coping extremely well just being next to some other horses and not having anyone actually with her in her field.

Because he's an older boy and very experienced and clever - he knows I'm still learning and teaches me and takes the best care he can of me every step of the way. At the same time, he can gallop for England when out hacking and could complete a pretty good Elem dressage test if asked. He is truly a horse for all seasons!

Quite simply, my Pepper is special because he's my best friend! and every day is a good day when I am with him.
I could list a million reasons but I'd be here all day! And you lot, having you own horses, already know what I mean.☺️

My horse is special because I took him schooling in wind and rain today and not only did he not attempt to floor me, but he gave me some really good work including baby half passes.

Mine is special because he is like the energiser bunny, full of energy, always happy, always up for a game or a puzzle or some fun, always unpredictable and always surprises me.

One of mine is special because he's mine and was meant to be and lets everyone know he's mine, he has this snuffle sound he keeps just for me, every single day I tell him he's gorgeous.
My other special lad is a 17 2hh big black dog, a total gentleman and hides behind me when the others are picking on him

Thats great news! I knew having him stabled for a few days was the way to go, so glad to hear of the massive improvement.

My mare is special because she is basically me in horse form. She is outwardly a little grumpy at times, but a huge softy underneath. She is also a clean freak and is always the cleanest horse to come out of the fields. Her rugs all look brand new, no mud splashes etc and she even stacks up her food buckets and leaves them by her door for me in the morning.

For a moment I thought the thread said "special needs"........now that would have given me a LOT to talk about!

But he is special - brave kind and as clever as a wagon load of monkeys! And has more than a little of me about him too.

Just because she's my own, my first horse after over 10 years of waiting to be able to do it and it's just as great as I imagined :) Not had her long but she's definitely special and makes me smile even on bad days.

Because he's my first horse all to myself, after 20 years of being a pony-less, pony-mad girl. Cos he's so sweet and soppy, and always has to be near me. Cos whenever he's scared or unsure, he's learnt to ask me how to react, rather than spin and shoot off. Cos he always wants to show me where the nicest grass is. Cos he knows when I'm sad and will just stand near me, and just the sound of him snuffling around or eating his hay is enough to put the world to rights again. Cos every morning I get up just to see his face, and after work he'll always pop his head over the door when I call his name. Cos even though he's a little rat some of the time, I can't ever stay annoyed or upset with him, cos I know he doesn't do any of it on purpose, he's just waiting for me to catch up and figure out what's wrong (except when he refuses to be caught in the pouring rain, but will come in quite happily when it's lovely and sunny, then, I think he really is just 'special')
