took my 4 year old down to the school to ride tonight and got on at the mounting block. walked across the concrete, got all 4 feet inside the arena and BANG....head went between his knees and he proceeded to bronk the length of the arena...could feel myself being flung very high but thought i was going to sit it

...til i got to the end and the little sh!t dropped his shoulder to spin to the left and i went flying out of the side door

....the other person in the arena was just sat there in shock and another spectator was like "oh my god"...so gets back on and he's absolutely fine, plodding about like a 10 year old and then proceeded to do a lovely schooling session

. now what the hell was that about?!!

I would blame the saddle cloth, it must have pulled accross his back after a few strides lol -

well i would have to find something to stop me worrying like hell. what can i come up with.......that i had a cold backed monster....that i needed the back lady out.....that i need a new saddle....that i am a crap rider and shoud not be bringing a youngster on.....that something went up his nose so lets go and buy a nose net....that he does not like being watched..... he hated the horse already in the arena....
I would have to be up at the crack of sparrow to get him back in the arena tomorrow - cos if i though about it i would wind myself up into a frazell

Good luck - let us know how the wee beastie behaves tomorrow

TBH i do think he's cold backed. he's been a bit like this to get on since i backed him...but its been loads better recently- he's just been tense when i've been getting on, not had an explosion for ages....

it doesn't really worry me because its happened before...and when i got back on i had probably one of the best schooling sessions i've ever had...its just wierd...

he's being lunged tomorrow. for a long time. clearly has too much energy if he can get that high in the air!
