This feels like mummys big girl or something similar, it feels as if you are so fond of her and have a fabulous relationship in terms of trust, but equally that trust has been hard won with this mare, as initially she lacked confidence, it is as if she has had a whole different life before she came to you and she wasnt very happy when she arrived, however since that time she has settled in very well, and learnt to trust you.
She came to me via a dealer, and was a little insecure! 7 years down the line I'd like to think we had a good relationship!!!
She is a lovely big girl, but equally moves quickly her head isnt at all slow! She has a great brain too and learns well and retains things from just the one lesson. She will try anything for you and hopes that she gets things right, showing me that she is very earnest.
Absolutely Dor to a tee - she only needs to learn something once!
I do feel that you have done a lot of groundwork with her, concentrating on that at times so that she gains her confidence with you. I feel that when you got her she could be bargy/pushy and you have worked so very gently and carefully to get her to respect space but equally not flinch when you ask her things.
Absolutely Dor again!
I do feel that she was initially headshy with you, and then still is sometimes but with Vets/dentists etc, not with you anymore, but she can revert to this if she isnt sure of someone.
She tends to smack people with her head when she's unsure!
She feels borderline between being independent and being a loner, in that she is always quite happy munching out in the field away from others, as if she has always had to look after herself having said that she is a loner in a herd rather than wanting to be on her own. She would always feels safer in company when out at grass.
Again, Dor to a tee! She has her friends, but will always be out the back eating and staying out of people's way!
I feel that she is perfect in that you have worked to get her how you want her, and she is strong in terms of staying sound, true in gait and has a great nature, is forward going, never ever boring and really great fun. She feels that she and you have a special relationship and she is so confident within this, it is lovely to see, especially as I can see that you havent taken that for granted.
I like this a lot, because from my side, it is true! Nice to hear the same from Dorian!
I keep seeing this groundwork, and you have her on a long line, like a Parelli line or similar, I am not sure what you are doing but she has referred to it again. I do feel that was in the past and that you would still remind her of things but that she learnt them a long time ago.
Again, to a tee, I do a lot of work on a lunge line - and I actually taught her how to lunge!
I always check if horses are suffering in the readings, but I feel that she is in no pain, has no problems and doesnt have anything terrible to tell you.
What a relief!!
She shows me a saddle as if you had a saddle fitting problem in the past with her, but that is solved now by using something different (those were her words, I cant work out what she means by that, but I feel that it would be by using a different saddle pad or similar, rather than totally changing everything. I feel that I am seeing a treeless saddle in the past too.
I have talked about a treeless saddle in her presence, but not got her one! However, am now happy that her saddle is a problem (had my suspicions!)
In terms of at work, she feels that she is well behaved, occasionally a worrier but she would be fine with most traffic etc, just not so good with things that make funny noises, then she would be using her imagination and thinking it would hurt her you would then get her bum moving away from it, but no nasty behaviour.
When she spooks, she tends to walk backwards! But she tends not to spook so much!
I dont feel that she is ever nasty Kat, she feels like a mainly gentle mare with you, as with most mares she can chase the odd other horse away with her teeth, but she isnt horribly mareish, just tells them to stay away, and if they do great she is happy. I do feel that she is well bred and that you have plans for her to breed one day, but not yet! I keep seeing the word baby so I dont exactly know, but I feel that you have talked about this one day in the future.
Actually... she has a baby at foot!!! I do wonder about the breeding though!!
When I talk to her I constantly get the word strong as if she is strong and well balanced when ridden, not because she pulls. She like a lot of horses would be terrible in the wrong hands, because she needs to get her confidence from you and if she had an inexperienced rider, she wouldnt be as good as she is, but she is happy with you and feels that she can give you her confidence as you look after her.
Again, Dorey to a tee!!! She can be strong, but needs a confident rider before she's brave enough to act strong!!
She does like her food, but not in a manic eater way, just that she would wait for a moment of politeness before she at, but the minute you indicate she goes for it, but is never horrible and rude.
Dorey is not allowed to eat until I tell her! Spot on!
Basically Kat I can find nothing wrong with this mare that you havent already worked on and changed. She seems to be very happy with you and her life. Much more so than her past which she felt was frightening but I feel that was due to people expecting too much of her without teaching her first that is why it is important that she trusts you to teach her, and is happy and calm when you do.
She went through a market and a dealer and was broken in ireland!
She feels like she has really fitted into her home and you have plans for her in the future, I get the words breed society so she must be registered in this country with her breed.
She is the happiest now she has been for a while! However, more mention of posh breeding... I wish I knew who her parents were!!
