Not sure what's going on with him, he has a pickup, sometimes with a digger on it, also a car and another pickup, so when my trailer isn't there, it's like looking out of my lounge window onto a commercial park, both his neighbors who he is very friendly with and he has been doing work for, have been doing up there houses big time, one has been going on for over 18 months, with vehicles of all shapes and sizes coming and going until 10.00pm at night, and parking outside my house and others, making things awkward for literally months, now one of them has moved in, he parks his car outside either mine or a neighbors house, he also has a massive works van making it look even more like a commercial park, even though he has ample room on his own drive for 3 vehicles, anyway, brought my trailer home to do some bits, and collect bedding in to put in my garage, my trailer has only been there for less than 4 weeks, and he comes over moaning "am I selling it", "doesn't look good out his window", "he is going to park his pickup so it's difficult for me if I leave my trailer there", I said if trailer not there then someone else parks there, I don't see the difference, also non of the vans look nice to look at, but I'm not moaning, I also don't moan when he is working on his vehicles banging drilling grinding etc.

As I said in my original post, people in glass houses.

I'm pretty vague on the rules, it was a colleague talking about it ages ago, but there is some sort of rule/law about parking caravans in the street. I dont thi k it was allowed and if someone complained to the council you'd be made to move it.

I'd guess that a horse trailer in the street/public parking space may fall under the same rulings?

It might just be a Scottish thing or I might be totally making it up by my colleague was definitely going on about it along those lines.

Might be worth staying on the good side of the neighbour so as not to be reported or play them at their own game and report their commercial plant being parked in the street.

Trailer is back at the Farm now anyway, I arranged beginning of the week to hack up to the show to chaperone my friends horse there and back, as he hacks there ok, but not back towards home, but then I had to have the vet yesterday for a cough, so couldn't do that, so fetched her back with the trailer, it was pointless taking it back home when it was already now back at the farm, which I had planned to do anyway, annoying thing is he will think I have moved it because of him, which isn't the case, I didn't want to be a Dick by bringing it back home parking it up just to be annoying, will have to see how things go, I will bring it home if necessary.

Do you mean it was actually parked in the public road? Or in your front garde/drive? I would be worried someone would come and steal it on the road..

Forgot to mention my neighbor on my left has a large Motorhome parked on his drive all the time, except when they away in it, doesnt seem to bother the guy opposite, feeling a bit singled out.

To be honest in my road there is limited parking as it’s mostly terraces and a bloody great trailer parked semi-permanently outside my house would annoy me. We had a large commercial van that kept parking opposite which was longer and wider than most cars and took up loads of space and was frankly ugly. Guy didn’t even live there but much further up the road. He seems to park it in another wider road now.

There’s some info here re the parking of trailers and caravans on the road. It sounds like the trailer/caravan needs to be actively lit up at night.

https://www.askthe.police.uk/content/Q629.htm

‘The caravan/trailer MUST be lit at night if it is parked on a road and comply with the other parking rules - the nearside must face the pavement so the rear lights are at the rear for approaching traffic.‘

Some local councils also take a strong line on the nuisance value of caravans and do, in some cases, take legal action. It is also worth checking with them before parking on the road - see the website in related information to find your local council.

Looks like my post was incorrect, I wonder if the rules have changed as it definitely used to be an issue.
