My naughty horses had recently taken to trashing the electric fencing that runs between them - presumably they weren't getting enough of a zap from the temporary fencing, which I set up to connect to the permanent boundary fencing, which runs off the mains.

We left a note for my YO on sunday afternoon telling him the electric fencing wasn't doing the job.

Later on Sunday afternoon he phones to ask what the problem is.

Monday morning he phones to ask if I can bring them in the following day.

Tuesday horses are in for the grand total of 5 hours (my oldie hates being in) and the entire field is re-fenced with 3 strands of thick new tape, all new clips on the huge 6ft fence posts (especially high to keep my cribber off them). The posts are also all checked and banged into the ground a bit more, plus the broken one replaced :)

Result - today the cheeky beggers were where they were supposed to be! :D

Given all the posts on here grumbling about yards I just wanted to say how very thrilled I am with mine :) Especially as it's not a proper livery, just a kind farmer :)

It is, shame people don't feel as inclined to reply to the happy posts as they do to the ones complaining! :D :D

I have a vandal horse coupled with a lovely YO too :D

Last week he some how ate his light switch, leaving us in darkness, YO ordered her husband to buy a switch to put around the corner.

Next day vandal horse goes under electric tape...YO come running up from yard (through mud) to rescue me and horse stuck in wrong field!

When it snows she brings us a bottle of whiskey to put in our tea :)

My YO is fab too! She always made space for me when I was back during Uni holidays without me paying a retainer inbetween. I often get to the yard to find my mare has been fetched in, so they could dish the haylage out to my other horse. When it snowed she spent the day carting water and haylage about, yet didn't charge a penny more.
Yes the yard has negatives, but I love it there! The brand new giant school helps too! :D

Our YO has just allocated me a new field that hasn't been grazed since cut for haylage in July :D I am going to have to lead my horse through my Summer field to get to it so I'm fencing a strip off to lead through, so the whole of my Summer field deosn't get trashed!
He tops up our field waters whenever we ask (or without us asking, whichever comes first)
He texts me if the ground is frozen to ask if I want my horse left in (rutted old field, new one isn't)
They skip out and turn my horse out in the indoor school if he doesn't go out because of said frozen ground without me asking (standard procedure for when the horses stay in)
AND......CHarles Britton has arrived this week to build our much-anticipated 60m x 30m menage YIPPEEEE!
