just had awful news, I can't stop crying.

I sold my pony Dollar 3 weeks ago to a lovely lady, thought it would be the perfect home. She said she'd keep in touch. Well the first time i hear from her is a few minutes ago saying she'd put Dollar to the cart for the first time yesterday and he bolted. She came off the cart and has a black eye. Worst still he has awful grazing down his back legs from the cart and is on antibiotics and god knows what else.

I let her have him on a 4 week trial but she paid me in full when she collected him. But what is he going to be like when I have him back?!?!?! He might be so scared of the cart and what about scarring?!?! Oh gawd!!!!!

I'm so upset, he's NEVER EVER done anything like this ever before, thats why I let her have the trial.

I feel such a failure.

Life is so rubbish at times. Plus i had a really dodgy guy (def a tinker) snooping around the farm earlier so I won't be able to sleep tonight with that either! Argh!!!!!

Be careful we live quite near NEC and we had our riding hats stolen last week.Worth nothing but will cost me to replace.
What a shame about the pony, you never know with other people maybe she put something on wrong or did something stupid. I don't think I would ever let a horse go for 4 weeks trial but it is a bit late to say that.Sorry

Don't panic, in his eyes you'll still be his 'mum', and you'll have the same bond that you always did to help you work through any issues he might have following his scare. The scarring will probably be minimal, no matter how bad he looks now, and there are loads of miracle products to help anyway (Camrosa springs to mind

I sold my mare to a forum member as a '110% safe no-matter-what' happy hack, but had to pick her up after 3 weeks because she'd completely flipped and transformed into an animal that was completely unrecognisable to me. Glad to say thatshe back to normal now, and everyone involved in her sale/return has come out none the worse.

Oh chick (((Massive hug)))

Are you deffo having D back?

I'd just let Allie roam aorund the yard for the night and if the pikey comes back I'm sure her turning her arse on him wanting a scratch will scare him off

that actually put a smile on my face....inbetween crying. I'm terrified that guy will come back, but i don't hink he'll take Allie, he'll just think shes crazy, lol.

Yep looks like I'll be having him back next week, don't get me wrong i love him so much, its just so crap hes got to come back.

Believe me i shall never do another trial again, ever, but i really didn't think anything like this would happen. Just shows how unpredictable horses can be I suppose.

I really do feel such a failure though, its like its my fault, but i know its not, oh its so annoying!

im sorry to hear about your horses injuries. but u shouldnt blame yourself and think that you are a failure! unfortunatly these things happen sometimes. when you get him bac just introduce him to the cart slowly again.

and about that man...euwww creepy! just keep a watchful eye but im sure everything will be ok.

.x DONT BLAME YOURSELF...YOU WERNT TO KNOW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN! .x

in exactly the same position only my pony wasnt on trial but came back to me \:(
huge hugs my pony has gone on trial again and done the same thing which he has never done with me !
I HATE SELLING HORSES!!!

is there any way you can go to the new place and help the new lady get the pony accustomed to his new life (helping drive him with her etc) till he settles down???

Really sorry to hear about D. Hope hes OK, at least you will be pleased to see him again, even if not in the best circumstances.
Poor you.

Oh how awful, Im so sorry.

Perhaps ask his new owner if she wants a gand with him, perhaps as was said she is doing something without meaning to that is upsetting him?

It could just be settling in nerves and worry too, espec if he had been with you a long time.

Thanks everyone, I'm feeling much better about the whole situation now.

He's a lovely pony who i dearly love, so in that way it will be great to have him back. I think the plan is to keep him and compete in Indoor Driving Trials in the winter which will be cool and see how we go from there.

I would go over tomorrow to help her but she is over 3 hours away and she has her mind set that he has to come back (shes one of these nervous sorts).

Madgirl- i know its awful isn't it!!!! Reason why hes the first i've sold (well except for another one but that was totally different). Hope you find a good home for Major, hes a lovely pony.
