My lovely yearling has gone...ugly!!

I am so relieved that someone else thinks the same of their yearling!
Mine is 14 months has a pot belly and ribs showing, toes in all directions and is bum high!
When I had his jabs done the only good thing the vet could say was "at least he is muscling up behind". That's because he is an appaloosa and that is the quarter horse ancestors coming through! He was a lovely photogenic foal.
I had his dad as a five month old weanling and I don't recall him being this ugly but I think
my friends will probably disagree - I too had rose tinted glasses on with him. I bred a full sister to this yearling and she wasn't this ugly but looking at the pics of her she was much better at 17/18 months than 14 months and then I sold her and can't get the new owner to send me an updated photo!
Think my yearling is taking on his mum's more recent thoroughbred ancestors. Long legs and he definitely has thoroughbred/arab mane and tail (most unusual for an appy) they are just abnormally long for a yearling - so musn't complain there!
But I just cannot bring myself to think about showing him this year - what will people think of my stallion!!! Perhaps next year. :/

Yep the thought of taking mine to shows has blown out of the window...my boy is one of the first crop of Sirens Missile and really not a good advert for him ATM!!
