It seems like yesterday when I got told yep there's something there...now the questions she has good sized bags when she goes out in the morning but nothing when she comes in at tea time....her anus seems to be swelling up

Hi

My mare is 329 days and I've been on foal watch the past 5 nights and I'm shattered!!!

She's bagged up, has been waxed up for past 4 days and her girlie bits are completely relaxed and long.

The past few days have seemed longer than the past few months!!! I've got cctv on her and am getting up every 2 hours to have a peek at it. Hopefully tonight. If not I'll need to but some matchsticks tomorrow to hold my eyes open!!

Good Luck

Oooh sounds tiring....the prob with my mare is she isn't showing much belly so can't tell if the bump has moved back...she looks dropped in her backend but she's abit touch and go with her food/hay...she's bags am but non pm no wax ...but now she has a swollen bum and longer (slightly ladybits) so presuming she's showing signs but not enough to say tonights the night...my cctv gets the big switch on tomorrow

Having spent the last month on foal watch ( pony foaled Monday) it's exciting and exhausting at the same time. Most certainly watch for all the usual signs but be prepared, my pony did not wax looked so like foaling three days before she did i was up and dressed three times on that night for nothing. I found the milk expressed to be the most reliable, 2 days prior it changed to a thin white and her vulva was open. She almost caught me out, i was checking the cctv every 2 hours at 1,3 and 5 oclock but the night she foaled, went to bed late and set clock for 2 and 4 at 4 head was out!!! Just lucky, and it's over so quickly, i thought i was all prepared with my foaling box and cameras and ended up running around in my nightie like a headless chicken

My mare too!!

She has bagged up for last few weeks though not much but she hardly had any bags last time she foaled (though she was a baby herself then).

She is hardly eating any hay/ haylage but gulping down hard feed like no tomorrow which isnt like her at all and is really touchy last day or so.

She has started to slacken a little yesterday.

Any guesses as to how far off she is we think 10 days ish. But i have any exam monday morning so odds on the awkward cow will be sunday night!

Good luck with yours she sounds a bit closer than my mare

Usually they go at least 340 days before foaling, (from day of 1st service of cycle) I've got now that I check them over several times a day but don't start foal watching at night until 340 days. Then I get up hourly - in the past I've slept in my car at the paddock but now sleep in more style in the horse truck.

One of mine foal around 340 days and the other is a tart and keeps her legs crossed usually foals up to 360 days. Last foal I slept in my car for 13 nights - seriously uncomfortable.
