My neighbour took his horse to the Chertsey show today, and came 6th out of 6,in an in hand class. Not very good you might think, but youd be wrong!! Less than four months ago the horse was rescued from(we,re not allowed to call them P++++s who had tried to break him with unbelievable cruelty, everyone said the horse was incurably vicious and unmanagable, except my neighbour. He has spent hour and hours getting the horses trust.Hours sitting in a horse trailer and feeding "fluffy"titbits if he would come in. Well today they went to chertsey, and fluffy behaved well. They may have come last, but I take my hat off to Terry for his achievement!

Thats fabulous for him, he should feel like hes won the red rosette as it sounds like just being their was an achievement! The horse obviously trusts him and that means everything, he should be very proud. Patience does pay off, we had a mare who would go nowhere near a trailer and would plant her feet and say a big fat no. After a lot of time and patience and careful driving, she ended up trotting up the ramp and loved her outings.

Next time he may get a 5th and so on. Onwards and upwards and good luck!!

I totally agree with you. I met Terry and Fluffy today, real inspiration! (my daughter was sat on Dave if you were there afterwards....)
If you weren't told the story you really wouldn't believe it, they did so well, and you could see Fluffy had real trust in Terry it was lovely. I'm looking forward to seeing how well they do next time.

Great story.

Sounds like Terry may have read Henry Blake's books, he used similar methods to recover dozens of 'broken' horses over his lifetime.

Well done to Terry and Fluffy

To my mind they were the real winners of the day. Superb horsemanship on your friends part, good for him.
