My new horse arrived today!

Thank you Tia, you say the nicest things! Re keeping clean : he put all his poo in one area on night 1 (good) and used it as a pillow (shame!), last night he pooed in a number of places but had no stains at all (really good, probably only time ever!). I followed your advice when I put them together and kept an eye on them but Kangaroo just squealed a bit, then ate hay. Today he is trying to get his courage up to go into the barn where the hay (and Kangaroo) are! I wonder if he will be brave?

He'll soon work out where the hay is and don't worry he is generally very clean in the stable, wish all my horses were as clean as he was!

At the moment he is eating well in the stable overnight and standing on the track looking expectantly for grass to appear I think.

He doesn't seem to be going into the barn yet...there is electric fence inside in parts to keep the horses away from the electrics, hay, lorry and muck heap and he seems very concerned not to get too close to that! There is lots of room though even for him! Guess he can't be hungry enough yet?

I have been walking him on the lunge in my arena with a tiny amount of trot for the last 2 days as my trainer was very quick to remind me that I must be careful of his tendons after his rest. I walked him in hand down the lane this afternoon and he looked at everything but didn't react (and stood very nicely whilst I had a chat to a neighbour). I am very conscious that I don't want to make a mistake with him and surprise him by suddenly asking him to do something that he doesn't understand so I am being cautious to start with. But it's early days yet and my trainer is coming on 6th Feb to help me too. Unfortunately, I have to go back to work tomorrow - how inconvenient!
