I really do hope is is winding me up, if not I am goiing to be very p****d off.

I am allergic to horses and hay and straw and everything that goes with it, so I have to be really carefull what quality hay I feed, please bare in mind I have a chest infection and currently on steriods and AB.

Today I ran out of hay, so he kindy went to his aunties and got me a bale. I have been fine with the hay I got, but tonight after filling ponies haynet, my eyes are killin me, my nose wont stop running and my asthma is playing up, The hay looked and smelled fine,, when I mentioned that his aunties hay is nearly kiling me, he said it was 15 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! idiot, it was not moldey or smelled fusty it appeared ok, pony has now eaten it all.

If he thinks this is a funny joke, it is not making me laugh, he better hope for his sake, that it is not 15 years old

i think if the hay was that old then it would have dissintegrated by now. what was the string like when you cut the bale open?

he might have meant it as a joke........kind of like when people say things like i had a thousand questions asked today/i died of embarrassment kind of thing.

Poor bloke, after he did you a favour, he is in trouble. Bet he won't next time! Sorry for your problems, but perhaps sort out enough of your own hay, and don't leave it until you've run out to source some more? If the pony happily ate it, then it can't be that bad, and as someone said, it would fall to bits and be dusty as heck if 15yr old.

The string was good and tight, the other thing that made me worry was when he said could I remember the last time she had made small bales?, I thought it was last year.

Just another case of him thinking he is funny, I hope!!!!

Was going to get more of my own hay, but he said he would get me some, and I do plenty of favours for him around the farm, so it is about time that he repaid me some :)

I seriously doubt it was that old at all. For one, I don't think hay would last that long and two - why would anyone have kept hay that long? Even year old hay is pretty fusty so i think you'd have known if it was very old.

I wouldnt have thought 15yo hay would still be hay, more likely dust..and I reckon a horse wouldnt eat really old hay...jeesh mine turn there noses up at last seasons :)

defo invest in masks when your dealing with hay,and if you are that affected by hay I'd use scientific goggles..pm me if you want any :D

Its not the hay, I have similar problems to you and having to douche my nose as the blasted catkins are out. My eyes are really grainy and weezing today

Could it be 15 month old hay - there is no way that anyone would keep hay for 15 years and then give it to someone to feed to a horse.

I would suggest he is taking the pee because you are very good a biting.....
