This could only happen to me. my cat, tigger, went missing on tuesday last. On thursday evening, I was down feeding the dogs, when i heard a faint mi-ow, coming from the back of the stables. Went around there, and it got louder, but seemed to be coming from the ground. Thought i was losing my mind. My sister arrived and she said the same, but upon further searching, realised that it was coming from the wall. As it turned out, my neighbours dogs had chased her and she jumped into the tiniest hole in the wall and then fell down through the cavity blocks. Had to go to my dads, get a sledge and knock a hole in the wall to get her out. She's just back from the vets, €350 later, with a broken pelvis. She's mi-owing at me all day, and she is not a happy camper in her cage, but vet says 6 weeks cage rest for it to heal. How am I going to cope with 6 weeks of this????

Oh poor little mite. We had to do this for our old cat, he got knocked by a car and broke his pelvis, he was caged for six weeks too. It's hard but it can be done and the cat was as right as rain afterwards.

Thanks, I just feel so sorry for her, I know sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind, i just want to take her out and let her sit on my lap like she's used to. I'm a muppet when it comes to animals. It's going to be a long 6 weeks. just thought, what am i going to do with her on the days i work??

Poor Cat but VERY lucky you found her!

Our cat also had to have 6 weeks cage rest after being hit by a car, she was literally climbing the walls  but she is as right as rain now!

Yeah, she's one lucky cat alright!! It was a miracle that i found her, and that i didnt kill her sledging the wall to get her out!! Vet said another day and she was a gonner!!

Poor girl

I've had to deal with a few of broken pelvises now and have found that some cats are fine in a cage, others go absolutely daft trying to run round, hang upside down etc and scream all the time. For those I isolate them in one room of the house (often my bedroom) and make steps or ramps up to anything they might feel inclined to climb onto so that there is no jumping up or down involved. They have led a more sedentary lifestyle uncaged than they did in the cage. So if she does object violently try just keeping her in one room with all jumping efforts taken away.

They do tend to heal well in the end.

What a miracle that you found her in time and managed to get her out.

We had to cage Dave when we first got him as he wasn't house trained. He was only in there for a week but we did find her got used to it after a while. Just spend plenty of time sat next to the cage talking to them so they know you still love them.

Thanks, that sounds good. She's normally a very quiet cat anyway, but is really not liking this cage. Have never had a cat before, got 2 about 7 mths ago, a brother and sister, sent then off to get neutered, and the boy, speedy, died 5 weeks later from some feline disease he was born with. Nearly had state funeral for him, kiddies were so upset. So we really have to mind poor tigger. I was never into cats but really love this little girl. She's so friendly. The bed room idea sounds great, I'll persevere for another day or so with the cage at after that maybe change. My bed cost me a fortune, and it's leather, so maybe the nursery, as it's no longer in use, and I hope my baby days are over!!!

Thanks for the great advice!!!!

You'd know the kiddies named the cats from their names, eh!!!!!

OH no!! How awful! Poor cat :( Glad you found her though!

I would get some Feliway spray or a feliway difuser for near the cage. It contains pheromones and it chills my cat right out!
Good luck :)

P.S E-bay sell it, it's not the cheapest but it does work!

What is that? I've never heard of it, but am willing to try anything that makes this easier on both of us!!!!

Poor kitty, at least you found her though.

You can get a pouch of catnip from petshops but it makes my cat crazy and rolling around so maybe best not for a poorly cat!

My cat is VERY needy and doesnt cope well by himself and if we go out for more than a few hours we put on the pheramones *sp* which plug into the socket and make him happier.

Catnip is a herb, you can get it at garden centres or even toys at pet stores have it in it.

Non of mine have ever thought much of it, but for those cats who do like it from what I havr seen either they are almost orgasmic, or go mental, so go careful.

I am soo glad you found the poor kit, if the vet says she will be fine now, then perhaps ear plugs are the answer :D, sounds awful I know, but I did that with my old cat, when she was literally on deaths door and had to be confined, it was distressing but she is now fine, considering she only had hours to live!!!!!!

((((((((hugs))))))))
