Ethel is at the horsepital tonight
I went to get her in from the field and noticed she had yucky stuff running down her leg that when I looked closely I noticed was coming from a small cut right on her hock. Right on the joint :/ At first I thought it was pus, but that normally stops after a while, this had stuck and dried to her leg but was still running down from the cut. I brought her in and cleaned it and eventually (2 hours later!!) got hold of Henrys other owner who could help me. She came down and agreed with me that it was joint fluid but wanted to ask someone more experienced at work what they thought and then someone else came down and looked .. Anyway, we decided the best option was to take her to the vets seeing as I was already going to pick a horse up from there to bring back to work (Ethel is 2 mins down the road from my work) so off we went, she practically walked straight onto the box seeing as she hasnt been loaded since a yearling and she was great travelling. She put up a bit of a fight when they stuck needles in her but was generally good all round. She was x rayed, had her blood and joint fluid tested which all seemed normal but her white blood cell count was higher than normal, not horrifcally but enough for them to want her kept in overnight. They think she'll be okay but it could go septic by tomorrow but theyre going to ring me tomorrow and let me know how she is.
I know she'll be okay, but I cant help worrying
Vibes for Ethel pleasee.
Cookies all round for those who made it this far x
