It's always one thing after another! And I am on the edge of giving up horses all together, I know this isn't this fault at all, the poor mite, but I seem to have the worst ever luck with horses.
This is how I found him on Thursday! He went into a new field the previous Saturday and came out with a few kick/bite marks but nothing which went through the skin, he seemed to of settled then I come up to this! The whole field has been checked and checked by about 5 of us and there is no way he has done it in there. Vet reckons a horse has kicked him just at the right angle! Slightly different position and I wouldn't have a horse today!
After vet cleaned it up/cut off the bits of dangling flesh!
Day after, she left it for 2 days as it was so wide and swollen there was no way stitches would hold. Even after the swelling went down she didn't think they would hold - all the muscle inside is ripped too.
Internal and external stiches and she managed to get the whole thing stitched!
He's been such a brave boy through all this! Stuck in his stable 24/7 being injected everyday, cleaned etc.
