He looks really bold and scopey! i'm no expert but do you need to give more with your hands?

What a lovely horse, with a big bold jump, you do look like you're hanging onto his mouth a bit.
Your position on the second horse is very good, you've got 2 very nice horses.

My guess is you have had the mare a lot longer so you have 'evolved' together, the chestnut looks new to you, produced by someone else but thats just my guess

He does have a hugely bold jump, its wonderful to have a brave horse

just be sure he doesnt tire too early though

Both nicely turned out too

He looks about twice the size of your little grey and you look alot more comfortable with her. What is the height difference and what size are you?

the mare is 14.1hh and the horsey is 17.1hh and i'm 5'4

I have ridden the mare for 3 years and the chestnut for 6 months. We have had the chestnut for 3 years and one of my trainers has been working on him. He was extremly strong, I was very lucky to hold onto him

He was clipped and put on hard feed the week before so was feeling quite full of himself. He has got my 100% trust but I cannot give him an inch because otherwise he will take the pee where as I have 110% trust in my mare. PLus the mare is 19 and the chestnut a 8 year old (4 yo at heart)

thanks for your comments, will work on it for next time.

I agree with the others about your hands - need to be more forward. Also in the xc pic you look like you're sitting down, and in the picture on the mare you're a little far forward - imho your bum should hover above the cantle. What lovely horses. Hope this helps.

LOL! That is ALOT of horse to keep hold of! I am several inches taller than you and think I might struggle. 6 months is a very new partnership and I am sure you will bond more in time like you have with the little mare - you look like you have a great partnership and he obviously looks very scopey indeed.

Your horse is gorgeous and I agree your horse looks really bold. Just my opinion but I think you need to relax a little like you are on the grey horse.
